Can't save ship designs

Seems to happen with some regularity, and only affects "small" and "tiny" hulls. Can use the design module, but can't save. Also can't upgrade (attempt results in a crash). Restart often fixes the problem.

Is there a fix?

I am also having this issue. I have used all the different species designs and all of them have this problem.
