What, no LAN?

We weren't sure about the hot seat, but every game should be LANable. This is really weak. i don't care how fun it is, any game that can't be easily played with friends is not a game worth playing. i highly reccomend you throw this hunk of shit in the trash!

Wow... did you just fell off the face of the earth during the whole 'why no multiplayer' discussion? Seriously, do some research before you talk. If you HAVE to have multiplayer to enjoy the game, that's fine, but telling others to throw it in the trash? Why the hell should we, when it's pretty damn obvious when you haven't even tried playing the game yet...

turn base multiplayer = BORING....

This isnt a FPS or a RTS, this is stragegy as it should be....

Noob go back to your trolling...

The AI in this game more then full fills the lack of mP

If you want a MP go get a total war game like EAW, no dip, no trade, no tractics, just build up a fleet and plaent hop

BORING

Ill stick with GAL CIV2 thank you...

If only i could return my EAW.... worst 50$ ive ever spent

I believe the complete opposite. Multiplayer = joke of a game. With this game and "Oblivion," I feel as though developers are showing that there is a tremendous market for Single Player games.

When I heard of "Battlefield 1942," I thought "Interesting, I will have to check it out. When it said virtually no Single Player experience, I said "Want no part of it."

Not saying there isn't a market for multiplayer, but like college sports, if they got rid of it everywhere I would be jumping up and down!

Hey, I just want to know if this moron even owns the game. If not, we can safely ignore him in his abject ignorance. If he *does*, we can laugh at his stupid face for not even bothering to read the box.

Why do folks even respond to this? Just let the post go into obscurity and disappear. Not that I am helping, but it irks me when a thousand people respond to one person who is obviously not really playing the game or giving any constructive criticism. Just makes them sit back and laugh at you, while you get more frustrated at another idiot posting an inflammatory post.

There's a difference in having online games with people who just want to play and sitting down with a bunch of buddies and playing it together. Ofcourse online would be a hassle or boring as you'd have a time limit for turns or wait forever for some idjit to complete his turn. LAN play would allow you to shout to your friend and tell him to hurry, or you could be doing something else on your PC while everyone takes their turn. A comfortable LAN environment would apply more to this game than online play.
Having said that (as Simon would say), even LAN play for this game would require a lot of extra work compared to single player. All xml would need to be the same for every turn. Ship designs would need to be distributed every time someone makes a new ship. Basicly, everything would have to be the same on every computer every turn. The only effective solution I see would be to have a dedicated server or host. Hotseat and LAN are probably the only real possible forms of multiplayer available for this game. PBEM would just be hell to workout properly, and online for the general public has way too many issues that go along with it to be any fun.

You don’t get the term single-player, do you? And no, this is why the game is strong. If you don’t get this, go play Tetris with your friends and stop bothering us!

The main page really lacks a sign stating: “You need to be this tall to play”.

If he isn't back by now to defend himself, he is just a pansy-ass troll without a real point trying to get a rise out of you. Let his thread die, it isn't worth any of our time.

Wow, I just got this game, but it doesn't come with a genuine Precursor artifact! This is so lame. I bought it without reading any reviews, reading the forum, reading the box, or even asking the salesperson, and now that I've organized a conference of 200 leading scientists, I'm missing the alien technology I was going to display!

Also, the disk doesn't fit in my Super Nintendo. DSOENT NE1 THNIK OF COMPATABILTY NEMORE???

By the way, the forum's rating system is as bit lacking. You can only mark "responses" as "Trolling", not the original poster...
