Should my ally do this?

influence stations

I just started the main campaign.

However, despite being friendly with the Altarians, they insist on putting 2 influence stations next to my main planets.

Surely that's going to be harmful? I was tempted to declare war, remove them, and then pay for a ceasefire.

All my planets were under Altarian influence. With friends like that, who needs enemies???

Dodgy!! It could be harmfull, then again it might not be that damaging.

Just keep an eye on the indicator which shows how influenced your planets are. As long as they do not reach (4.00) then you are ok so do not need to worry much.

Just imagine basically they are setting up a station to sell trainers and burgers and beam tv to your culture. Its not an agressive act but could lead to you losing control of your planets. Counter it with influence buildings on planet or space stations of your own selling nike's

It might be both cheaper and better for your relations if you buy the starbases from them.

Lol.. I find this funny. The AI is acting similarly to real life. Kinda like how other cultures feel about our McDonalds and Starbucks in their cities.

yeah some allies

Nothing wrong with it! They're just trying to sell some of their food, maybe open up a shopping mall or two.. Don't you like their goods?

I really wish that once your allies with them, their influence bases won't have any effect on you.. To the point where your citizens start rebelling. Same thing for military base.

Maybe, but at least its not the US government building those McD's and Starbucks. I'm pretty sure we would object here i europe if the US government started building off-shore platforms broadcasting propaganda and telling us we should revolt and become americans

You already are Americans, you just don't want to accept it yet.

Ever hear of "Radio Free Europe"? That is exactly what it is.

Yes, and that is used against ENEMY nations not friendly ones

Mainly nations that do not have their own free press. Unlike western europe where this is not a problem, and where I doubt anyone bothers listening to Radio Free Europe.

It\ would be nice if you were on the same team, allied, they would exchange technologies for cheaper (especially if you two were fighting a superior force)

There is a UP event where all starbase effects are granted to allies as well. Wondeful when the idiots want support in a war, send your ships over near their starbases.

For the love of whichever entity you believe in, DO NOT repeat that if you ever go to England. You might as well put a sign saying "kick me very hard" on your nose.
We do have national pride you know. Not sure why we're proud, sort of just sit around doing rather little than watching out government fulfil the every whim of yours, but DAMNIT IT'S OUR COUNTRY!

Why are you government officials always complaining? Altarian delicacies are so rare in most other sectors, yet they sell them in mass quantities at low prices here! Especially the delicious Verrish dish that was first prepared, like, 6,000 years ago! And of course, they have a better grasp on cola flavoring than Earth does. And their clothes...oh, don't get me started on their clothes.

I ignore the AI's influence bases... they don't last long enough to do any harm. The first time that AI goes to war they'll be wiped out by the other AI. You'll be ok

and telling us we should revolt and become americans

I think you got your words messed up there. You surely meant "we should become revolting americans"

I think influence starbases should have a hypnotism branch. Brainwash the planets with subliminal messages. Wouldn't affect the game at all, but I'd be so incredibly happy knowing there were billions of little Drengins running around with my little implanted propoganda in their heads. "So Fred, done much today?" "Nah, just watched some bloodsport and.... AUTOBOTS GOOD.... WORSHIP AUTOBOTS.... " "Err, what was that Fred?"
