GalCiv 2 Desktop uninstall?

I cant get rid of the Galactic Civilization 2 Desktop Theme! (Theme Manager)
No matter how I try to uninstall it, I always get the "....ini file not found" message!
I cant even delete the directory, cause some files are in use...

just want to clean up my system a little bit.

can someone please help me with this?

I uninstalled it a while ago but can't remember exactly what I did - think I just used control panel Add/Remove programs.

The "ini file not found" sounds like the uninstaller is missing for some reason. The other option is to reinstall the theme (that shouldn't hurt you as you've already got it!) and see if that fixes the uninstaller, i.e. try to uninstall it afterwards.

Best bet would be to re-install the theme (over the top) and then try to uninstall again.

An alternate theory would be that you've disabled 8.3 filenames and the uninstall uses an 8.3 path to the ini or uninstaller file, and this isn't working because you've disabled that feature.

Go to desktop, right click, in there you will see the tabs for changing the theme on your desktop Click on the appearance tab, in there you change your theme back to stock. Then uninstall it, but make sure you reinstall it first.

I own the entire Stardock suite of programs and tools for Windowblinds. Its a great program, the free one uses up some major resources, but the new version 5 integrates with Windows using virtually no resources when a theme is loaded. I hope this helps you out a bit more.

found a strange solution:
reinstalled the theme in another directory then the default, then uninstalled it. that worked!
the old (default) directory was still present, and I finaly managed to remove it, except ONE file: fastload.dll
I can move that file on my harddisk, I even can rename it (actual name:fast.txt), but I CANNOT delete it!
strange thing... , anyway, I can live with that death file...

thanks to all, who tried to help!
