error activating product

I have exactly the same problem

did you buy the game in europe, and is it the collectors edition?

As I've found out on this site you need to get the serial swapped for a new one if you have the european collectors edition...

Thats not possible for me, as it says some other user is using my serial...and now I cant play the game at all after I've found the patch at a third party site.

also i tryed to do the email activation but how long does it take for a response and how do i get another serial

I dunno about the email activation, but I've tried emailing the support team, because I don't seem to get anywhere now. As I mentioned the site tells you to get the serial swapped.

I got the update patch from another site but as it does with you it telle me there's an error activating the product. I think the problem is that you need to get the serial swapped as the link mentions.

I also have this problem.

I have the american CE version.

When I first got the game from the store I updated with the CE patch and Bonus Patch before making an account.

After I made an account then to chat on here and tried to activate my serials via stardock it gives me the error.

I just ignored it until today when it's doing it with the beta patch. Somehow I think entering my serial codes on this site to get the patches before registering for an account has screwed things up.

Is it possible that the Ebayer who sold it to you had already activated it, not liked the game and sokd it.
If so your option is to use the serial number swap - this may cure the problem = otherwise contact the Ebayer seller or Stardock for advice.

Also in case anyone else had the same problem as me:
I had already gotten my serial number through the e-mail (i live in europe with CE) but when i tried to activate it with the new patch it said it didn't work with the same "error activating product" problem.
All i did was resend for GC to give me my serial number again then copy and pasted it (although i admit it was possible i entered it in incorrectly i did check the new code with the old one before i put it in the last time and both were the same)
