dumb question: is the 1.1 BETA like a normal patch?

I'm wondering about one thing is the 1.1 BETA like a patch so when 1.1 version will be published i can normally download it and install in the game or does this BETA messes up gc2 files and has it's own .exe so i need to do major changes when the next patch come out?

It behaves like any other patch in terms of installing and upgrading. However if there are many major bugs with it (which you can assume there are), then it would at worse screw up save games, ships etc.

Once the next patch come out tho, it should be ok to re-upgrade. But be careful. A BETA is not like a normal release. Don't just get it because you want the new features RIGHT NOW - it is only for testing purposes.

To quote Brad's comment on it:

If you don't know what a Beta is - don't download it!

Basically, it's a test bed. By throwing it out to the masses they will find the problems a lot easier than having 3 people chained to their desks for the next week.

Its not like it hasnt been tested it at all, it just hasnt been tested to the extent a normal patch public release would have undergone. So expect to find bugs, but i wouldnt expect them to be show stopping or detrimental to the gaming experience for the vast majority of players.

Patches also typically won't promise forward compatibility, meaning you may have to reinstall GalCiv before installing the final 1.1. I'm not saying you will, but this is a beta after all.
