The end of turn button disappearing happened to me also. It happens when you have ships with moves left. If you hit the find button and move the ship or press space to skip its turn, the end of turn button should come back.

I also run into same activation code problem where it asks you for your serial number and the tells you there is an activation error. javascript:editor_insertHTML('PageTheme__Right__ctl0__ucCommentForm_comments_txtBody',' ')
At the end of the Beta 1.1 install (GALCIV_110_beta_032406.exe) it says you have succesfully updated with the BonusPak content.
I also noticed that the websites latest official version for the retail version where it says **update your retail boxed version of Galactic Civilizations II to the latest official released version: v1.0X English Edition.** it actually takes you to the collector'e edition downloads webpage
As I understand it, the BonusPak content is for the CE so I suspect that this is the activation it is requesting and why people with the regular version may not be able to try out the Beta 1.1 version
Hopefully these links can get fixed ASAP as us regular edition people no longer have access to the v1.0x edition either!

2 problems for me:

1. Range seems to be reduced for any ship not designed in the current game. On large maps, the range is halved, but creating identical ships on different map sizes results in different ranges when the game is restarted.

2. I can't upgrade any ship not designed in the current game. I get the 'component is too large' message when I try to place anything.

I have an issue with the turn button . WHen I click it I wait for ever and the button never comes back. I waited 5 minuts and it never came back. This is only after installing the 1.1 beta patch. My game that I have been playing for a couple days is messed up. I know that its a beta so im not upset , but its something to look into.


I have had a similar problem. For me, making sure that you move all of your ships (the same thing would make the turn button turn green) will make it reappear. It might work for you as a temporary workaround to this until this gets fixed.

While I am not an expert on the internal systems of the game, these don't seem to be a problem. The "no files found matching mask..." seem to be saying that there is no custom data in a directory. The two errors seem to be be saying that the technology "ImpossibleTech" doesn't exist, but it is listed as the prerequisite for "PirateShip" and "Starbase". "ImpossibleTech" is probably just a placeholder for ships that have no prerequisites and cannot be built (the starbase is not buildable on planets, and useing a constructor is a special case). The prerequisite is probably a required piece of data, but these ships should not have any prerequisites, so a placeholder has to be used.

In addition to the crash that I reported in another thread, all versions of Galciv2 have the following problems:

1) Windows priority order. I think, it happens when you press turn button. For example, some new race wants to talk to you, you have some preliminary screen, like "Finally we've met";
Then you have a report from some planet that it has completed something, and there is nothing to build. You press GoTo. Then you are back in a race dialog. After you finish it, you return to th eplanet dialog. No a big deal, but certanly not perfect

2) Ship design. Not sure exactly when it happens, but when you delete some component (because you attached it in the wrong area, for example), you cannot place the same component again until you click on some other component fisrst, then back on the one you want. Also in the same dialog, sometimes you do not see messages like "There is no place for this component" until you exit the construction dialog altogether.

3) Beta only. You have to reconnect to the metaverse every time you press Ctrl/N. May be it FAD, but does annoy a bit.
And do you have to go to the "The Jorney Begins", etc, then to the home planet every time you load a new game?

I understand that beta is beta, and the rest of issues are cosmetic
I enjoy the game a lot.

In the ship designer, when upgrading, the capacity component tab does not show for construction or freighter type ships making it impossible to upgrade them. It works for colony types though - weird.

1. If you upgrade some user design and then choose to upgrade ships of this design too then all planets with starport and empty military queue start building ships of this design.

2. 100% CTD savegame just sent to [email protected]

3. Autopilot path also shown for AI ships if clicked (exploit?)

4. Sometimes starbases show wrong number of modules left like 17/18 when you can't add more. Can't be sure but never happened with military starbases.

5. Weried thing with the mouse - sometimes mouse pointer disapear but it seems that mouse works (even if it is invisible you can move and click around) , if you exit to Windows the mouse pointer shown but wan't move while "real" invisible pointer looks like moves and working . Fixed only by reboot.

6. Still no ship name tooltips (disapeared in 1.0X) in planet ship build screen when you click "GoTo" on ship built GNN event.

7. I am not sure but never saw Anomalies spawn after the start of the game even when enabled in settings.

Planet Summary:
* Shows wrong when you have built a morale-building on a 100% morale-bonus-tile. For example an Entertainment Network shows 25% natural bonus, 100% bonus-bonus and it's added together to a 125% morale-bonus at the bottom. The same thing happens with a influence-building on a 100% influence-bonus-tile.

Ship Design:
* Impossible to click-and-move inside the window after having chosen 'Front View' or 'Side View'.
* Miniaturization bonus loses it's effect when upgrading a design from an older game: it says that my cargo hull has 74 space but I can only fill 55 of them.
* When I doubleclick or press the place-button for the colony module on a cargo hull, it doesn't show up in the component list and it can't be removed in any way.

Tech Description:
* Beam Weapon Theory description is still from us humans point of view.

Oversight?
* Initial Colony's still have their morale bonus left even though the Civilization Capital lost theirs.
* You haven't included 1.0X.1 in the history-textfile.

Old bugs that still exist:
* AI seems to think that it has a military advantage in the beginning of the game even though both them and the player has 0 military rating. Easily noticable when chatting with the Drengins for example, they keep bragging about how easily they can conquer me.
* Espionage bug. If you click on a uncolonized planet, it shows influence and revenue as ?? even though it should be zero. You also get the tooltip 'Requires espionage level: low' over them.
* Deleting ship designs still doesn't remove the actual files from the \Ships\ folder, only removes them from all further use.

I'm also getting the missing turn button. Saving and reloading makes things ok for a couple of turns (notwithstanding the load game bug talked about above).

Since installing the Dual core driver the game has ran great. I have not experienced a single CTD.
I am encluding the log incase I did not notice something. (A file attachment would be much easier)

BUGS NOTICED
1)I have encountered, the end turn problem. 2) I have not encountered ANY anomalies in this game. So using the SURVEY option does not seem to work (and yes I have anomalies on) I may be that I did not get to them. 3) Planet tiles are really hosed up. land squares report as ocean. Plains as Mountains. ETC. ETC. 4) Custom colors and textures are lost when loading up non-core ships, for upgrade. Maybe a version issue? 5) Diplomacy, Trading for weapons techs is way too harsh, most won't even trade, even for all of you techs. VERY BAD.

Things I like about this version.
Ship editor is AWSOME, Except loosing all main components when upgrading. I like to remove and Upgrade.

Not quite sure if this a bug or not, but the "randomize intelligence" doesn't seem to work correctly. I kept getting owned on my normal difficulty level (maso +) so I slid it down to reorganize my strategies on less than insane AI.

he Ai in my new game was randomize at painful. I had 8 enemy AI. The AI in this game was just as bad as before, but I couldn't figure out why until I invested enough in espionage to see their intelligence levels.

Of the remaining races in the game when I checked my espionage reports out, 4 out of them were on incredible, and the rest were genius.

As I remember pre-beta patch, having ONE AI on incredible was enough to get 'masochistic' so why is 4 AIs on incredible (if not more?), and the rest in genius only qualified as 'painful' when randomized? This seems like a bug that'd be easily missed.

When I speed build a planetary improvement, sometimes it won' be recognized. It shows up on the detail screen, but not in the upper windows or the planet list. Quitting and reloading fixed that. Saw it on both a speed built factory on a +300 and a speed built farm on a +300 - no increase in produciton, no increase in pop cap, until I reloaded. I think it's ahppened other times, but it's not as noticable.

Production crases across the galaxy after a reload. Check out the industry graph (bottom of main screen) after a reload - all civs drop to 0 for a turn.

Social routed to Military production bug. If your Military slider is at 0% the ship doesn't build. It will show the routed social in the military box on the planet screen, but it's not added to the ship being built. Thinking about it while typing this, I didn't check to see if the BC was spent. If the military slider is at even 1%, it works properly using all routed production.

With construction ships (and appearently trade ships), there is a bug if you upgrade a previous design. If you upgrade a ship that performs either function, then you cannot place any "capacity" items on the ship. The upgraded ship still retains the trade/construct ability (whichever the original had), and you can load the ship full of engines (or whatever) and it will still be able to perform its function when built. If you look at only the functional components in the editor, there is a strange-looking item first in the list that can't be deleted which might be related to the problem (it looks like a jewelry piece). You might have to start a different game than the one you designed the original in, however.

There is no way to properly upgrade such designs, so you are stuck either guessing how much space you should have, cheating (and using more space), or redesigning the ship from scratch. Of course, using an upgraded design from this results in a ships that is ridiculously cheap, since you don't have to pay for the expensive trade or construction module.

Also, you can make designs in one game, then load an earlier save and those designs will never appear, even if you have more than enough tech to build them.

after defeating the torians they surrendered to me and my treasurey went super negitive. i was positive some rediculus quantity of cash, making 12k a turn. right after there surrender im hit with a super large deficit.

1) Bug 1: Ship Designer: Noticed when designing contructor that I had to zoom far in to place the constructor module because designer was trying to place the module half-in and half-out of the hull, rather than on top.

2) Bug 2: Drath Legion (AI): While I realize I was playing on "normal", there is no excuse for the AI to choose a 9 planet instead of the 19 planet right next to it.

3) Bug 3 (AI in general): Huge map, common habitable planets, abundant anomalies, scattered stars, 4 AI (random :Torian, Yor, Drath, Drengin), "normal" intelligence, tech trading off, blind not selected. :
a) They barely evolved the entire game. At a leisurely pace I was able to take about 70% of the galaxy without firing a shot and without any real competition.
b) I gave up after 9 years when there were no "treaties" (ie: no trading amongst the AI's, no wars, no alliances, no nothing). They all did an initial planet grab then simply "shut down."
c) They never fielded a single ship with a weapon, though did send out tons of scouts. After 9 years I had a military rating of 350+ with fewer than 20 small hull ships armed with a Stinger III.

Other comment:
I could really tell the population growth had been dialed back. I had to pause my planet grabbing because I was running out of population. Very effective!

What Drachasor said about the ship designer. If select a ship and then upgrade while in spacedock, you are unable to put anything on the hull and get an "item too large" message. I noticed with engines and support modules before exiting and designing from scratch.

Also noticed ships from earlier games not available, even though you have appropriate tech.

Bug 1:

After playing for a long time, letters start to disappear. Specifically, in the economy sliders, sometimes one or both of the digits disappear when sliding. E.G. incrementing Social Production 31% might yield 32% or sometimes 2%, or sometimes even %. Sometimes the first character of planetary building construction names will disappear too, such as "Space Port" -> " pace ort".

Bug 2:

After loading, I was sometimes unable to move a ship. It would give the message "Destination out of range, we'll be cold and hungry, etc etc". If the ship was on autopilot, and I ended the turn and let the ship move on its own, everything would be fine and the next turn I could move it manually.


Bug 3: In a "No tech trade" game, an AI demanded technology from me. By default, I was set to offer cash (even though I was already deep in debt...).


Bug 4: When I make ship designs, save them, then start a new game with the same custom race, I get the old ship designs. Nice! However, when I try to upgrade them (e.g. "Fast Freighter" to "Faster Freighter") I cannot add any components. The ship shows no components (except jewelry) and 0/55 space, but adding anything gives a "Not enough space!" violation.

My DXDIAG info is below. But before you peruse that, there were also some interesting bug reports near the end of the error log, that I think may apply to the "missing character" Bug 1 (and yes, this is a random guess):

Bug 1:

After playing for a long time, letters start to disappear. Specifically, in the economy sliders, sometimes one or both of the digits disappear when sliding. E.G. incrementing Social Production 31% might yield 32% or sometimes 2%, or sometimes even %. Sometimes the first character of planetary building construction names will disappear too, such as "Space Port" -> " pace ort".

Bug 2:

After loading, I was sometimes unable to move a ship. It would give the message "Destination out of range, we'll be cold and hungry, etc etc". If the ship was on autopilot, and I ended the turn and let the ship move on its own, everything would be fine and the next turn I could move it manually.


Bug 3: In a "No tech trade" game, an AI demanded technology from me. By default, I was set to offer cash (even though I was already deep in debt...).


Bug 4: When I make ship designs, save them, then start a new game with the same custom race, I get the old ship designs. Nice! However, when I try to upgrade them (e.g. "Fast Freighter" to "Faster Freighter") I cannot add any components. The ship shows no components (except jewelry) and 0/55 space, but adding anything gives a "Not enough space!" violation.

Bug 5:

One more thing, slightly more minor. It has to do with social/military production. I don't have any +social or +military production bonuses, or anything like that. This is how to make the bug manifest itself:

1) Set research to 0%.
2) Set military production to 1% (it CANNOT be zero, but the lower the better).
3) Set social production to 99%.
4) Make sure there are no social projects.
5) Set the planet(s) to military specialization.

6) Notice how many military resources you have! Wow!

7) Change the sliders to 100% military.

8) Now your military production will be cut roughly in half.


This gives me roughly double the production I would get at 100% military. I have no idea why, but you should probably reexamine the "no social wastage" equation, because it looks like production is added twice.

Crash To Desktop when I wanted to overwrite old ship design (Used the same name for new design). I got confirmation box, asking whether I really want to overwrite the old design and after clicking Yes, game crashed.
However, I was not able to reproduce the bug, since next time I tried to do the same, it saved over just fine.
