possible cause?

interference?

i was doing a bit of research on games crashing and i came across a disturbing prob concerning starforce,, now i know this game has no protection but from what i found out ,it seems that if you have a game installed on your pc that has starforce as its protection it interfears with other games that dont have its protection ,... i have come across it on several webforums ,,there are thousands of gamers giving out about this where they cannot play their non starforce games without them crashing or rebooting the pc ,, see here for some complaints ( http://www.star-force.com/forum/index.php?showforum=13 ) ,, the reason i am bring this up is that i am thinking that many of us will have many games (2 or 3 or more) installed on our systems and not reliease that starforce is on the pc ( it stays on even when you remove the game that it was installed with )... it seems to interfere with a lot of drivers ( sound, graphics ,net ,cd\dvd rom burner drives, etc ) the list goes on ,, check here to see how to check your pc for starforce and how to remove it ( http://www.star-force.com/forum/index.php?s=f08567d5f9c55ffc3c9de7f6355c55bb&showtopic=672 ) ..
if any of the developers can check this out to see if it could help solve some of the probs ,it would be great ,, i in the meantime am going to remove SF, remove GC2 and reinstall it to see if there is an improvement ,, will let you know if there is or isnt ,,
never mind ,,i have come across the other posts here about SF ,,,, those guys that created SF should be shot ,, sounds like kgb plot ( he he )

In america, KGB is feared. In Soviet Russia, KGB fear Starforce!

As long as some unscrupulous publishers are still putting the Starforce trojan on their games, it can't be stated too often.

Yes this is sadly true I have learned. Starforce does indeed interfear with non-starforce games.

The problem stems primarily from games that do DVD or CD checks.

Starforces drivers alter the way your Drive reads and writes dvd and cd's. Apparently some copy protections and simply cd/dvd checks fail because of the starforce changes.

You will have to use a starforce removal tool to correct the problem. Of course you will no longer be able to play starforce games.

The most recent game to suffer from this issue is Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion (which only has a simple dvd check protection. Perhaps it's revenge from starforce for bestheda choosing not to use their protection....) Simply remove starforce and the game should run fine and install fine. Starforce just loves to dig itself a deeper grave every day.
