How to make the GERMAN Version WORK with the path!!

or how to make an English version out of the German one without redownloading

Hi,
I bought the german version of the game and also got frustrated with the patch chaos. But I found a simple even though not perfect solution that works great for me:
Before applying the patch I saved the Data/German directory of my installation to German_old. Then I copied all the data from Data/English to Data/German which overwrites all the files. Then I applied the patch. After that I again copied all the data from the English Directory to the German one.

This way you get an English version WITHOUT having to download the whole game over Stardock Central. I tried it out in a short game and everything seems to work. Version number is correct too (after the path 1.0X something).
If you need a German version I guess you have to wait for either Paradox or Stardock to come up with some solution. I am happy with the English one.

If you also want audio in the intro movie you have to download the movie update over Stardock Central seperately. There is also an update for the tutorials.

Thank you SO much! This is absolutely great! I usually don't buy German versions but instead order games e.g. from Amazon UK and this game reminded me why: The German version is a total mess! Lots of stuff isn't translated, a lot of stuff is missing even in the parts that are translated (so you get blank spaces in the middle of sentences), the stuff that is on the map isn't translated at all (so your home planet is "Earth", not "Erde" and you find an "Anomaly" instead of an "Anomalie"). I really wonder what the people who localized this game were thinking.

Add to that the patch problem, so I can only give a "Don't buy" recommendation for the German version.

well, its true, the german version dont works with the update, but it seems that the solution works (mentioned at the top)!

hey das hat funktioniert:
ich habe zwar den ersten Schritt nicht gemacht, sondern erstmal alles upgedated, und dann erst die English-Dateien in die German-Dateien kopiert, aber es funktioniert: v.1.0X.2 (wird jedenfalls angezeigt).

hm the solution did not work the game runs updated now but i got no display of text ig not a single word

saved data/german to data/german-old, copied data/english content into data/german run the stardock update and copied again the data/english content into data/german
game runs now but like i said no text.
some helpful ideas?

tried to deinstall the german version and to use the version on stardock but it seems not to accept the keypass for the german version ACK!
