Will game work with my PC

I'm loving everything that I've read on GalCiv II. My system is an Athlon 1GHz CPU with 512MB of RAM and a RADEON 7000 video card with 64MB of video RAM. I'm running tXP with latest service pack.. How will the game perform on my system?

Well I am not a programmer but minimum requirements are (from the box:)

Windows 98/ME/2000/XP Pentium 3 800MHZ ;256 MB of Ram ; 32 MB directx 9.0c compatible videocard.

Recommended is 512 MB ram; 1,8 MHZ + 128 MHz graphic card.

Though it should run but perhaps you should give it uch virtuel memory, turn of some fancy graphic features and not insist playing on the biggest map. Turning of as many background programms as you can should help although.

Hi Barry B,

My concern might be the video card's support for DirectX 9.0. I'm able to run the program on my laptop, which is a P4 1.6GHz, 1GB RAM, and a Radeon 7500 card with only 32MB RAM. Performance is generally pretty good.

I also agree with Midnightsun, that you might need to limit the size of the Galaxy you play in, and/or the number of opposing civilizations. The mid (to late) game can start to slow down quite a bit with the sheer number of ships involved.

But for the money, I'd recommend getting the game, and if you need to buy some additional RAM for it, it won't go to waste in any other games, or productivity applications.

I've wondered about this too; I'm on an AMD Duralon 1.2 Gig, with 512 RAM and a Radeon 9100. That seems above the minimum, but somewhat below the suggested, and I wonder how much of an issue that's going to be. It'd be good to know before I put my money down.

uh oh, i look kinda outdated to you guys. i got a pentuim 3 dell dimension 4100 computer. i got xp professinal with 863 MHz and 384 MB of RAM, dunno what vidoe/sound card i got. i know that meets some requirements, but would this hamper my gameplay (eg slow it down, pixeltated etc) an any way, shape, or form?

thanks

I think the rule of thumb is "if you have to ask, it's not good enough."

One other thing about posted system requirements, when they say minimum 256MB of memory, figure on that meaning 256MB available to the program, on top of however much the OS has to take up. I've had GC2 take up as much as 1.6GB of memory.

That is my concern, too. Hence my posting the question. I'm sure my system could handle it, IF I play it light. That is, I don't have so many opponents and stay away from Gigantic galaxies.

I'll just hold off until I can upgrade my system.
