As of March 24, 2006 at 5pm EST the 1.0X update of GalCiv II convert international users into the English version.

When 1.1 goes public, we will work with Paradox to get the new files translated into the appropriate languages.

The other thing we have heard is that some people have had problems graphically with non-English versions. We do not know the cause of this but we do know that you can fix it (until we find out the real cause) by:

Go to Control Panel. Open up Regional Settings. Change to English. It shouldn't make a difference in how your computer works. We don't understand why it makes a difference in a computer game either.

the current 1.1b2a works with the german translation, but it's not the 1.1b2, it's a mixture of 1.1b and 1.1b2. The 1.1b2-patch contains the german files of 1.1b,. so several changes like research-costs aren't patched. The game doesn't crash, that's right.

Nonetheless it's a beta and thats the most important thing that it works with a german translation. That I havn't got the latest beta was clear, it even says so..

OK, now it works on my computer too. At SDC/file there is a option to archive and restore all files already download at any time. I did reinstall the game and then normally install new with my German CD's. At SDC I restore the patches and everything is fine and in GERMAN There are maybe some little translation faults but the game works fine.

Ich habe noch eine mögliche Ursache für das verschwinden von den Planeten/Schiffen gefunden: Wenn man die Nebel und die Sternen Dichte auf Maximun stellt, verschwinden die planeten/Schiffe. Ist das nur bei mir so?

I found still another possible cause for that to disappear from the planet/ships: If one places the nebulas and the density to stars on Maximun, disappear planet/ships. Is only with me like that?

German Collector's Edition here.
Question: With the beta patch, do I still have to install the bonus pack too? Before or after updating to 1.1b2a? Or is the bonus content included in the beta version now? The bonus pack has proven troublesome before for the german version, so I thought I better ask ...

Well, after patching my german version via Stardock the game wouldn't start anymore. Right, the product activation crap again. Makes one wish for a good, old-fashioned copy protection instead ...
But when I applied the bonus pack then, the game launched and was in german! So, am I happy? Unfortunately not. The spaceship editor didn't work right anymore. Ship stats and the ship components list were missing, but the ship design was still displayed as maxed out (eg. 68 of 68 used). So, no updating for existing ship designs ....

As much fun as it is to read all the advice here, to d/l stuff only to discover new problems: I'm back to 1.0 from my purchased CDs, until a real patch comes out that fixes more problems than it causes.

I have installed the bonuspack once and since that I never had to install it again. (Even after uninstalling everything) To check whether your bonuspack is included just go to tutorials and see if there a box that makes it full-screen, it's Bonuspack only as far as I know. In-Game it has extra components in the special list. Have fun.

About the messed up install. When you are at 1.0, open Stardock Central and wait untill a msg pops up that tells you to download the beta patch. It's only 6,x MB, nothing too big. The game WILL work when you do it like this and stays in German.

Ist eigentlich nur mir aufgefallen das die Übersetzung grauenhaft ist ? Seit wann werden eigentlich Eigennamen(Railgun-Bahnkanone oder so ein schrott) übersetzt.Paradox nutzt wohl eher ein schlechtes Übersetztungsprogramm.Von ganz fehlenden Übersetzungen mal abgesehen.Naja, was erwartet man wenn man ein schwedisches Unternehmen mit so etwas beauftragt. Achso, nutzte die Coll.Edition oder auf deutsch die Sammlerausgabe also schon sehr merkwürdig Firma "Sternenwerft"(Stardock) und gutes Ding Firma "Widersinnig" (Paradox).

LoL this don't realy help I follow the link and find nothing...perhaps they have some information but it will need hours to find them inside paradox-forum ...anyway i can play..not with the latest patch and not without same bugs non translation and so on and finaly not in metaverse but i already play the campain and some big galaxie's...i hope paradox and stardock will tell us non-u.s.-version-users by time where and how to fix all problems easyly without to read hundreds of informations from ather players thanks for that it will be

The German files are definitely not adapted in the last Betas (Beta 3 and Beta4) I hope change with the official Patch

did you know that happened with Paradox or the Paradox forum. Since at least twelve hours i get this message

' Connection to server forum.paradoxplaza.com failed (The server is not responding.) '

if i try to go into that forum? I've got the impression that you are always good informed about paradox.

sorry, I don't know whats going on there, too.
I guess their server has crashed, because http://www.paradoxplaza.com/ still workes and the link an their mainsite still leads to the link above.

Lösung zum Grafik Bug ohne Windows auf Englisch zu stellen.

Hallo zusammen,
hier nochmal genau die Einstellungen die man ändern muss, wenn man seine Schiffe/Planeten nicht sieht.
1.Start Menü
2.Einstellungen
3.Systemsteuerung
4.Ländereinstellungen
5. Den Reiter Zahlen anklicken
6. Bei Dezimaltrennzeichen ein . (Punkt) setzten
7. Bei Symbol für Zifferngruppierung ein , (Komma) setzen.
8. Auf Übernehmen klicken.
9. Ok klicken

Das war alles, viel Spaß mit dem Spiel
und viele Grüße

P.S: Spiel bleibt durch diese Einstellung natürlich auf deutsch

What do you expect will happen when you do this? They know about this, the problem is the translation was done by non-games, persons who normally translate contracts.

Drop the parts you see a problem with to [email protected] and others will know about them, otherwise the problems will notbe solved.
