Wanting to use a cheat code.

First off, this is not concerning the problem where people are getting the "Cheat Codes Detected" bug. I am actually wanting to cheat to see how the game would be played differently.

I know that there is a cheat code that is out there and I do know where it is at. The problem is that in the instruction that the word 'cheat' goes at the end of a shortcut to the game. The only problem I'm having is that when I try to change the shortcut, an error comes up saying that there is no target (or something) with that file name. When I go to the galciv lanch in my C drive, I am not given the option to change the coding to add 'cheat'.

Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong or is there an easier way to really cheat at the game, Galactic Civilization II Dread Lords?

I'm assuming the stuff in the Target field is in quotes. Put the "cheat" parameter to the right, outside the quotes.

It's no problem if there are no quotes, but the quotes are necessary if there are spaces in the path.

"If you want to enable cheats, you have to add the "cheat" command line parameter (note: that's 'cheat' [singular], not 'cheats' [plural]) to a shortcut to the application and you need to add it *outside* the quotes that enclose the application path in the shortcut
For example: "C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\galciv2.exe" cheat"

"Ctrl +

V- United planets meeting

B- Adds battleship

C- Clones selected ship

0-9(NOT on Num Pad)- Hail's major races

J- Completes social projects

R- Research current tech (Hold Shift for ALL techs)

H- Heals selected ship

T- Teleports selected ship to cursor

L- Assigns remaining planets to major races

S- Saves

W-???( 1st time I hit it, it deleted all my ships. 2nd time, it crashed the game)

A- Upgrades selected ship

M- Adds 10,000bc

N- Restart on a new map with new race

P- Adds 1 to planet class"

"edit the CurrentCustomRace.raceconfig in My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2, look for something like
< ECONOMICS >10< /ECONOMICS > or < RESEARCH >10< /RESEARCH > and pump it up to
< ECONOMICS >100000< /ECONOMICS >... You'll never go bankrupt again"
