many Bugs in the German Version

where I begin first is to me struck in the Intro of the German version no sound is played secondly the graphic arts will not become properly shown no planets spaceships not properly shown. All that does me very crossly there English version already one stays in handel is and some problems should be confessed. For it I have been glad about 24.03.06 really fantastically

Have you upgraded to the latest patch? It appears people have been having issues with the localised versions (e.g. German) and the English patches from Stardock.

If you have patched it then you should be able to play by un-patching (e.g. re-install the retail version), it just means you won't get any of the new fixes or changes.

Eine wichtige Sache, die ich auch hatte (mit der englischen version) - stelle deine Ländereinstellungen in Windows auf US-Englisch..ohne das zeigte GC2 bei mir keine Planeten und Texturen auf Schiffen.

Did you use Babelfish for that jinroh? I correct people's English for my job.... but that was hard!

Well, he's right that the German version of 1.0 comes without any intro sound or speech, the tutorials have not been translated, and the localised German version cannot be updated at all (see the other thread on this topic). There isn't an option to switch the language either (which I don't understand, as there would have been plenty of space on the second CD -- especially since the voices weren't translated anyway --, and this would have taken care of patching issues like this. ). If I weren't on a dial-up connection I'd just download the US version through Stardock Central and active it with the serials that came with my German retail copy, but that's not really a viable option.

All of this is a little unexpected ...

no, the patches are not avaible for german version... i will hope, that we become anytime a fullgame, and not only a alphaversion of the game

im really angry over this, and will tell all the germans, they should wait, before they can buy this game. it's not playable on german version... so give for the first time € for nothing.

ja schiffe und planeten werden jetzt angezeigt. Sound im Intro funktioniert (natürlich) immer noch nicht ist mir aber (im augenblick) egal da das spiel wichtig ist.

Nein. Der englische Patch, welcher der einzig verfügbare Patch ist, zerbröselt dir die deutsche Installation -- danach crasht dann einfach alles nur. Ich werde mir halt gezwungenermaßen die amerikanische Version des Spiels herunterladen (sollte mit den Seriennummern der dt. Version funktionieren), da ich wenig Hoffnung habe, dass wir regelmäßig dt. Updates kriegen, wenn es schon so anfängt. Paradox Games ist für mich jedenfalls gestorben.

I've ordered the german version of galciv 2 via amazon and after i've read threads like this one, maybe i will send it back when it arrives - i'm not sureyet.

da kann ich dir nur zustimmen, bei solch einem anfang, mit einem unfertigen spiel rechne ich auch nicht mit zukünftigem support.

ist echt schade, hatte auf mehr gehofft. muß ich nun eigentlich mein windows auf US/Englisch umstellen, oder geht das auch unter deutsch, weil das wäre mir dann für heute echt zu viel, stelle doch nicht mein system (auch wenns schnell geht) um, so gut kann das spiel nun auch wieder nicht sein.

sry für meine negative einstellung, bin aber echt sauer, hatte mich darauf gefreut und dann so ein mieser suppot und auch noch admins (oder so ähnlich), die sagen, "es ist früh in den usa, die konten nix machen" ... und dann wollen sie global agieren, ziemlich peinlich für eine firma

Same problem for me, I installed the german version and after patching the application simply crashes.
I'm VERY disappointed aout this situation, more than this if taking a look on a patch 1.1 for the English version being in development when other languages are still on 1.0....

I had to do the same on my desktop pc, only the clock (Am and PM)and the date is now english but the game (english version) is running fine without any other problems, so I really don't see a problem in doing it

Wenn du deine Seriennummer hier registriert hast (plus den GC2-Code, wenn du die "Limitierte Auflage" hast), kannst du dir die englische Version des Spiels über Stardock Central herunterladen. Das sind zusammen knapp 1 GB. (Ja, da kommt Freude auf.) Kann man auch häppchenweise machen, das eigentliche Spiel umfasst nur 139 MB, Sounds and Effekte dann nochmal 100+ MB, Filmchen sind über 500 MB und die Tutorials so um 250 MB rum (muss man aber nicht alles auf einmal laden). Da die Seriennummern ja gehen, ist das Geld nicht zum Fenster rausgeworfen. Die Onlinebestellung käme auch nicht preiswerter.

Naja, und vielleicht kommen sie noch in die Pötte. Denke auch, dass eine Lösung für das Problem gefunden wird, nur dauert es halt sicher eine Zeit, da ich mir fast sicher bin, dass da einige Programmierarbeit notwendig ist. Da ich ungeduldig bin, beisse ich in den sauren Apfel und ziehe den Kram.

To the English speakers: Sorry about the German stuff. Sometimes it's easier to talk to other Germans in our native language. We're just whining anyway, so you're not really missing out on anything. *g* And I explained that the serial code(s) of the German version work with the US version that can be downloaded through Stardock Cenral.

Ja du mußt wirklich dein Windows auf US/Englisch umstellen sonst wird die ingame Grafik nicht richtig angezeigt. Wer hat das nur getestet ...mein Gott

und.... kann man die Spiele nur aktualisieren oder die Patches auch extra runterladen.

Eigentlich wollte ich nur spielen ... nun raucht schon mein Kopf

The link might help getting the programm running, but even then there isn't (at the moment) any posibillity to patch the 1.0-version, and in the latest patch (10X) there are several bugs already fixed.

The point is, this relase doesn't give any trust towards the developer/publisher (I don't know who is responsible in this case) so there are many people who are angry about having bought a VERY buggy game (it doesn't even start correctly on "older" system, so you have to say "broken"), a game they waited for several weeks/months.

I REALLY hope this will be fixed as soon as possible, but because having friday.... *does not say anymore*

Also, ich hab meine Laendereinstellungen auf US/Englisch umgestellt, aber die Planeten/Schiffe kann ich trotzdem NICHT sehen!
