Multi-Player?

Hey everyone. I have been doing alot of reading on thius game and have seen alot of great things said about the game. I like to play with close rl friends that I know. I see this game has no mulitplayer?! This is the only thing holding me back from buying it. Anyone know if there are plans that this will be added?

No plans in the near future. I generally play with 1-2 friends hanging around anyway - sometimes I play and they watch, sometimes they play and I watch. We trade tips and discuss options before taking a course of action.

there is an unlockable hotseat though i think that in some future update that stardock should fix it up and add an option from the main menu to play it

Do you know if there can be two or more human controlled players? That way you could play your friends on one computer.... I remember doing this with some game dont remebmer the name though... it was always fun when you destroyed someone and could laugh in there face while you did...

From Brad's did you know you can do this? sticky in the forums....


5) You can play a quasi-Hot seat game with someone by loading up the game as GalCiv2 cheat (use the cheat parameter). Then when you set up the game, you let the AI play out a few turns and then have your friend pick one of the races they want to control. Have them select that unit and hit CTRL-SHIFT-Z.

I read the post by the devs on why multiplayer was not added. I understand the pros and cons being its a turn based game... Looking forward to playing reguardless

I usually get tired of waiting for my oponite to finish there turn... it would take for ever

TBS + multi = make a casserole while your friends are doing their turns. And get cranky with micromanagers who take longer than everyone else. I really don't miss it.

I think they should go ahead and put in hotseat, and play by mail. That wouldn't take too much effort.

then theirs the whole "I want to make this ship look like a Cylon raider, and this ship to look like that ship from some movie almost everyone has forgotten about and I want this ship to look like that ship from that one Sci Fi serries, only with more stuff and I want this ship to look like a Klingon B-10 from SFB and I want this ship to look like something out of buck roggers(and on and on and on and on every time they decide to build a new custom ship!)
