Lucky Ranger attack/defense = wrong?

First, the fun part. I played several games in a row using the Lucky bonus on a Large map and never really seemed to get anything special.. Then last night I started playing a game on Huge using my same racial bonuses. Chugging along at a steady pace fighting a stalemate war against the Iconians when I get a splash screen telling me that I had found a Ranger. Sweeeeet. I start moving my new Lucky Ranger to the front line and before it gets there (roughly 10 turns later) boom, the same screen and another Ranger. Woot! Now that's what I call Lucky.

Then I looked at the equipment on a Lucky Ranger and noticed that it's sporting Missiles, Mass Drivers, Armor, and Point Defense. However, the stat summary of the Ranger only lists the Mass Driver and Armor stats, showing nothing for missile attack or missile defense.

I spose I could just run the Ranger into battle and see if it shoots any missiles off... but I'm at work and it will be several hours before I can check it out So is this just a display issue of the attack/defense summary, or do Rangers not actually have missile attack or defense?

Rangers are mass-driver and armour only in my games. I noticed the same issue.

Lucky Rangers have varying stats. Mine had mostly rail guns offence and defence but some had some missle/point defence as well. I think its random though

You can't go by appearances with game designed ships. They will have an array of weapons placed as eye candy but the real weapons are what the stats says they are.

Look at your core designs starting with the defender. Laser ships are carrying missiles etc, etc.

I mentioned this some time ago and it was of little interest to anyone and not even of great importance to me

Someone got into an arguement with me about the core colony ship having 2 colony modules, making it way better than a user created colony ship at the game start. -_-;;
The same effect can be achieved with user designs, but requires a little work by the user.

Think you are all missing his point. It has them listed in the ship details, but in the quick indicator on the info bar only shows the mass driver and armor. It might be part of the jewelry but, I don't look at ships to see what they have...I prefer the summary.

So yeah the ship details list weapons that aren't used. Possibly they are all the same ships and random ones have different weapons disabled.

I experienced the same. In the details list the ranger was armed with quantum drivers, photonic torpedos, armor & missile defense. But it only had a Massdriver and Armor rating.

I've noticed the same thing...and, in a fight, my ranger was firing off missiles and mass drivers, both, despite having a rating of 0 in one of them.

Exactly. Both of the Lucky Rangers have something like 6 Photonic Torpedoes and 4 Defense Drones (something like that; real high level point defense), but the quick-stats don't reflect this.

Definitely not an eye candy thing. The ship details list the missile attack and missile defense components, as well as the mass drivers and armor. However, only the drivers and armor show up in the quick summary screen.

In my game last night, I had 2 Rangers, one with mass drivers and armor and one with missiles and point defense. A third instance also happened, but it said the Korx found a precursor cruiser. I take it that's a different ship altogether.

Looks to me like these lucky ships are special. The game puts on weapons and armor based on some unkown factor, but it uses the core design's template for weapon and armor display numbers?

i've only found precursor corvettes (small fighter i think) and ranger.

Enemy found corvettes. I had 3 rangers which were my weakest ships at the time (mainly because of weapon type). Apparently corvettes come in large bundles because they sent wave after wave at me, they must be the lowest precursor you can get because one ranger made meat out of them and didn't get much XP.
