HELP! Can't get GalCiv2 updates!

I am trying to register my copy of Galactic Civilizations II. I created a Stardock.net Account and installed the Stardock Central software, but every time I try to update Galactic Civilizations II, it says "No registration information was found for Galactic Civilizations II. Would you like to purchase a registration now?" I click "yes" and it just takes me to an order page.

I bought my copy of Galactic Civilizations II at Walmart and I have both a CD serial and a "Collector's Edition" serial. Where do I enter them?

when you installed the game they gave you a place to enter your serial (CD, not collcector's edition). when you start the game (using your desktop icon), there should be a button that says "Update Serial" you can also enter your cd-key there. You can also try updating through the downlaod link on this websie as well.

So did mine from Wal-Mart CE, but there was still other minor upgrades to be had from Stardock Central to movies and such CE extra ship dress up components for eye candy.

You have to make an account to receive the updates. There is no stand alone download for it.

It is a bit laborious, but once you are done, you are done forever. Then just click on update once in a while to see if anything new has come along, such as the beta 1.1 patch this weekend maybe.

I really don't understand the process of registering! I have downloaded the stardock central software and installed it. During this process I'm asked for two serial numbers, both of whom are apparently optional, and I can't find a refence to any of them. When I registered my game, using the serial number on the back of my manual (GC2-***) I recieved an other rather long serial number. What exactly am I supposed to do with that?
Every time I start the automatic update process I am told that the game has not been registered.
Please help me, someone, as I am becoming quite desperate. I have been trying to get this to work for several hours now. My personal opinion is that this process is way too complicated.

AFAIK, entering the serial number into the game itself doesn't do anything. I did that and was unable to download any updates.

Go to this page

https://www.galciv2.com/registration.aspx

ANd make sure the website has both your regular number and the collector's edition serial number.

Cyber_grph, you should be able to enter the CD serial in Stardock Central under tools->register products, then click on the games tab on the left side, and select Galactic Civilizations II from the pull down menu. Then go to the downloads page and click on the collector's edition download the bonus materials.

Seeker4, try entering the long serial in SDC under Tools->Register Products.

OK, I went to Tools->Register Products in Stardock Central, clicked Games, clicked Galactic Civilizations II, and it already had the serial number entered.

I double-checked the number against the one on the back of my GalCiv2 CD case, making sure they matched, and hit Register.

A few seconds later, it pops up an error, saying "The Serial Number you have entered is invalid."

I also tried registering at the link that trancejeremy provided, and it pops up the following errors:

Error 3: Serial Number Is Not Registered To This Account
Error 13: Collectors Edition Serial Number Is Not Registered To This Account

The first time I tried registering the game, I had somehow found my way to that link, but didn't know I was supposed to create a Stardock account... I entered my serial numbers then and got different errors, possible due to cookies being blocked previously.

So... I think I might be unable to register due to a stupid site error.

Can anyone from Stardock help me?

I apologize for the double-post... the site kept returning timeout errors

Some of the European boxes had the wrong serial number printed, there's a link to the correct one on Paradox's site in a few posts.

Error 3: Serial Number Is Not Registered To This Account
Error 13: Collectors Edition Serial Number Is Not Registered To This Account

It seems that the serial Id is registred with another e-mail than the one you have specified in SDC

That's just it... when I first tried registering, I just entered the serial #s on that page (no other fields for other info)... and it returned errors.

First time I entered an e-mail address was when I registered for Stardock Central.

Therefore, the only way the serial could be registered with another e-mail is if it registered with a _blank_ e-mail address. Which means I need to get in touch with someone at Stardock, tell them my serial #s, and have them look up the registration info.

And I bought my copy of GalCiv2 in a US Walmart, not Europe. "Paradox" is not mentioned on the cover anywhere.
