Slight buff to "Sensors" tech

I think in order to have added value to the sensors tech line, they need to have an effect on the plantes as well. Nothng huge I mean, but I would like to see some extention of visibility surrounding the planets as I research higher up in the sensor branch. What do you think?

I agree, We need a facility or something that gives additional visibility to planets. I do howvever build starbases at my planets to improve production/research. I always go after eyes of the universe, that gives you a 15 sensor range to all ships and starbases regardless if they have sensors or not.

Sensors needs something that Eyes of the Universe does not provide though.

I think for me the most frustrating thing is planetary defense ships, once stationed at a planet, do not provide any sensor range. If you have a sensor ship you're better off parking it next to the planet than on it.

As you say though, it would still be nice to see planets increase their sight distance with research though.

facility that provide visiblity is awful - there are not that many squares that someone may build some sensor facility - it is easier to build cargo-hull filled with sensors and build something useful on planet.

I like the idea of planets having a 'sensor range' type idea - but I think it should be linked to something that is normally built on a planet? My guess is that updated Starports or something would be a good thing to place sensors on - it's not the 'basic' model, but if you have the updated starport, then you also gain the capability of what your current sensor range is... (heck - Starports build the ships, why can't they use some of the tech themselves?)

Unfortunately, the Starport is the only building you can't 'upgrade' since there is code that detects it so that a planet can build ships. Capitols, however, CAN be upgraded, I've modded to add republic, democratic, and federational versions of the colony center. The only problem I see with it is that if I add a sensor bonus, it would actually affect the entire civilization, rather than just that planet alone. I'll try experimenting to see if I can get a sensor building using the ship's tags, although I doubt very much that it'll work. GC2 is a little too restrictive on how it handles/parses tags.

I think the best implementation of this idea would just be a universal line of sight bonus for your planets. No building upgrades or planetary tile use necessary.
