The Artificial Slave Center

I've got a few questions that has been bothering me for some time:

FIrst of, does anyone know exactly what bonus the Artificial Slave Center gives you? I know, military production, but how much, and is it THAT planet or all planets?

Also, am I missing something or is there a reason why people are not uploading those great ship designs they have shown off and bragged about?

Personnally, I have never seen an artificial slave center. I would have to guess to say that it comes from being totally evil. It should tell you in the description whether it is for one planet or all. The way it usually works is a precise statement that says for "the planet that has this built on it". Whereas, if for all planets you will read something more general like "this will increase your manufacturing bonuses". So if the description doesnt say THIS PLANET then its all.
It should also tell you what exactly the benefits are within the description.

You are right, it is for those among us who embrace evil. The reason I asked was because it doesn't say where it affects, it probably affects all planets, but what I really wanted to know was, how MUCH it increases military production.
And although it does say so in every single description I've read yet, it does not say so in this particular case, which was why I asked.

I am looking for the answer to this as well

Current description:

This Super Project will give your Military Production a big boost. The cost? Just a wafer thin slice of your soul.

I recall reading somewhere it was 50% but is that empire wide or planet specific? Im going to guess planet wide as it would be silly huge if it was empire wide.

I have no experience with it myself but...

According to Wiki, the Artificial Slave Center affects all planets but to what extent is not revealed.

The artifical slave center is only for evil and it does affect all planets. The bonus is stated as a .5 modifier to military production. This is a 'hard coded' bonus that doesn't appear anywhere in your Abilities list in the Stats & Graphs tab of the Civilization Manager. It's not totally known what exactly a .5 modifier is but I've used the artifical slave center and it's a very powerful bonus because it seems to be applied after all other military production bonuses. Most bonuses in this game 'stack' i.e. are additive, but the artifical slave center appears to be multiplicative, it multplies other bonuses as well. It is very powerful, however, capturing a 2nd artifical slave center doesn't do anything.

I'm playing DL 1.5. I have another question about the artificial slave center due to circumstances in my current game. I'm playing as the Yor, and I have a large influence bonus due to techs researched and three influence resources that I'm mining at full strength (+39) ... I'll get to the reason that's important in a minute. I definitely noticed a civilization-wide bonus to my military production when I finished it, but I didn't calculate the exact level of improvement. The description states that the downside to the building is 'a little bit of your soul', or something like that. I'm wondering if that's just scary talk, or if there is an actual downside. My question emerges from the following:

I've gained several planets from other civs throughout the game by out-infuencing the owning civ. HOWEVER ... since building the Artificial Slave Center, I have not been able to gain a single planet from another civ through influence; there are several planets where my own influence is 14 to 16 times greater than that of the owning civ, and has been at that level for a very long time, but those planets still won't rebel and join my civ; NOTE that these planets are owned by civs that do NOT have a loyalty bonus, civs that I have taken planets from previously in this game through influence. This leads me to wonder ... am I just suffering from bad luck (I did spend one of my trait points on +25% luck, btw), or could it be that the "little slice of your soul" means that the planets of other civs will not rebel and join yours if you have that building in existence? Does anyone know if this is the downside to the ASC, or if there is one at all?

Stig1155, that is a known side effect of building the Mind Control Center, did you perchance build that as well? That one has a completely inaccurate description, it actually prevents worlds from flipping and gives you a 100% econ bonus instead.

Thanks for the heads up, Buress, I did build that, and that's exactly what happened. I noticed that the Mind Control Center gave the economic bonus instead of doing what it's description indicated, but I didn't realize it had that side effect. Now I've gotta weigh the credits that are rolling in b/c of that building against the advantages of being able to influence planets away from other civs. At this point in the game I'll probably keep the MCC, an alliance (Yor, Drengin, Korx) victory is not that far off for me.

The Mind Control Center provides a 100% bonus to your entire empire. Massively overpowered, but at least it has a significant down-side (the whole can't flip planets thing).

I believe the ".5" bonus works out to 50%. I play both evil and neutral and that's the difference I've been seeing. But yea, it's a good one. Combine that with max bonus points in military production and watch your military production points fly off the chart.

The Mind Control Center provides a 100% bonus to your entire empire. Massively overpowered, but at least it has a significant down-side (the whole can't flip planets thing).

Yea, the MCC is so powerful that it almost needs the influence bug to balance it out. Ironically, the description states the opposite. The MCC's name and description relects an ability to to increase the odds of a planet going your way. It does the opposite on a magnitude of about 10. I think there's a decimal point going the wrong way in the code.

In any case, the MCC and ASC make evil vastly more powerful. On top of that is the awesome Psyonic Beam. I've won military victories off that weapon alone. I still play Neutral sometimes because I like flipping planets and I like the instant terraforming, but in DA, you still have to research the techs so it only saves building the Orbital Terraformer. Neutral also has the instant 10% morale bonus which is very helpful when you need it most.

I wanted to add that the Orbital Terraformer is broken in Dread Lords (unless it's been fixed since 1.5.129). It actually deletes all the terraformable tiles instead of upgrading them. So, neutral is more advantageous in DL than it is in DA. You get instant terraforming without having to reasearch any techs and evil has to terraform the hard way since the OT is broken in that game.

So the Orbital Tile Destroyer actually works in DA and TA? That's also something that would have been handy to know

Yep, use it all the time in DA. Not in DL, but maybe its been fixed since the .129 version. That's one thing that's lacking around here is some release notes on what's been fixed from one version to the next.

Hi!
Regarding Artificial Slave Center: player pays fully for those additional 50% MPs (no discount as with other bonuses from abilities, tech or starbases). Points from it can't be transfered by focus.
