Giving spaceships does not help

Why isn't the AI using given ships ?

I've tried helping a civilisation at war with the strongest (military) civilization by giving him ships to help on its war effort
(I did that because I want to get rid of the strongest civilization while not being at war with them).
I've therefrore helped the drengins against the torians. I've given a (custom fast) transport ship and a (custom fast) warship.
After several turn idle, and seeing that no ships have moved but they all have no movement point remaining, the AI appears at last (within roughly 5-6 turns) to use the transport but NEVER the war ship. Whereas it does not move, it has no movement point ?????? This seems to be a bug, doesn't it ?

I've noticed that too. I *think* that happens when the ships are out of that race's logistical range. If you move them right next to one of their planets, then hand them over, they'll usually start using them. Or sell or trade them.

Yes, probably the ships you gave are out of the AI's support range. Move the ships closer to his planet or starbase to make sure they are within support range before giving them.

Usually ships that somehow end up outside of logistical range are automatically autopiloted back to the logistics 'border', at least that's what happens when a wormhole gets one of my survey ships and puts it out of range. So it's a bug of sorts that those ships aren't being moved to the nearest reach of the AI's logistics.

Thanks for the quick reply all !
As for xTR4CEx , I'm sorry I have not found your post !

Perhaps this "bug" will be fixed in the next release.
