Ship Designs Are Stripped When Upgrading!

I just upgraded to 1.0x.

Now, when I go to upgrade an existing ship from the shipyard, only the jewlery carries over. I have to re-install all the components. Usually, all I am wanting to do is swap for newwer engines, and maybe add a survey module. But I have to completly start from scratch.

I can see where this might be a good thing, since it makes you check for newest everything. But is there an option anywhere?

Unfortunately, no. Indeed, there should have been an option that allows you to choose whether to strip all of the functional components or not. Anyway, it's not a bug, merely a design feature that may have been added too hastily.

I love this feature, it made upgrading things a damn sight easier. If you built a truly massive ship with a lot of parts before, you had to scroll through to find the parts to remove (which didn't always work) or look for them. Looking for them was a pain if you had put something deep in the interior of your craft (like a colony module). I find this way soo much better!

I would love this to be toggleable, or perhaps even a button that allows you to remove all non-jewelry components instantly, while ship building.

I would much rather the old version, picking through a list of components to find those non-jewelry ones is a lot more desirable than trying to figure out what I put on a ship just by looking at it.

Another feature which may be beneficial is a component "List" by name & picture.
It's a little hard seeing components (not cosmetic components, but functional ones) in the small sidescrolling window.

That way it could retain cosmetic components & functional components on upgrade, and it would be a little easier finding "that piece" you're looking for.

I know there's nothing worse than having a bundle of components that you've minitiarised on a large hull, only to want to upgrade them once your opponents change their weapon types (and upgrading them each time something better becomes available)...oh well, i'm pretty sure i *could* think of many WORSE things, but this *is* a tad tedious

That is annoying. What I end up doing is building the ship (or finding an existing one), look at its details, writing down each module, then going to the shipyard. Blah.......

Another thing I'd like to see is, let us see what components a ship has by selecting it from the shipyard screen. Currently all it shows is HP and attack/defense numbers.

And.... Why can't we upgrade core ships? I really like some of the core ships, but I want to upgrade them with better weapons.

It makes upgrades alot easier, and I think it's just a quibble that you have, wanting an option. Frankly, this allows you to have a hull "style" you have, then customize it into various ships. Clever, iffn you ask me.
