Why is it autobuilding new designs

What it says. Its so annoying since usually I only use 2 out of say 8 planets and when all of a sudden the other 6 build my new design my economy plummets... simply because its using the money.

So everytime i design a new ship i have to unbuild it? give me a break. Has anyone else found this feature useful when you could just do it in the governers menu?

I have not seen this as you describe. What I have seen, is if I have an old design in the queue, and I design a new ship using the upgrade button, when I save the new design the game upgrades all the queued ships of that type. But I have never seen it add new ships to an empty queue.

Perhaps your govenor settings are causing it. Planets building (nothing) should build (insert problem child here). Try putting the setting to nothing should build nothing and see if that helps you.

I have the same issue, when I upgrade a ship design everytime my shipbuilding planets choose to build it. Its a pain in the ass because I have to goto each planet and cancel it.

I've only noticed this happening if you name your new design the same as an old design.

I've noticed this too, and at first I was kinda pissed about it, but I learned you can use the Civ Manager button to open the manager window, then click on the colonies tab...you can change what each planet builds right from the list. It's on pg 49 in you manual as well.

its a bug when u loaded a savegame and messed with the existing ships, but ive also noticed that sometimes it doesnt build the ship you tell it to (if you have upgraded a ship many times with the same name), but it builds an earlier version of it instead.
This can be fixed by using the proper in-planet shipbuilder screen instead of the quickbuild screen.

From what I've noticed is when you upgrade an existing ship design sometimes all your planets, or at least the ones not building anything, will set that as their new ship to build and they build enough to completely replace your existing ships no more no less.

I get this too, it isn't so bad when you have like 2-4 planets, but when your empire spans like half of a gigantic map, it gets REALLY annoying.

I've never seen this then again i only usually have 3 factory planets ... but I've never encountered that behaviour - what I'd recomend (until its fixed) is to use the governors tab and to set it to not building...

Actually like this feature... If you upgrade a design, and planets building the old one, start building the new. What really needs to done is some more work on the governors so that you denote 3-4 different styles of planets . IE style 1 build this, style 2 build this, etc...

Esp with rally points. You should be able to say : Planets building this, going here, should now go here.

Yeah I get this too, I don't think it's a bug, maybe intended. It's very annoying though and I think this is one thing I'd like gone.

To all those people manually stopping each ship factor building though, you can just use the shipbuilding govenor to cancel them, go into the stats and graphs tab and click on the govenor tab, here you can set all shipyards building a certain type of ship to build a different type (or no ship).
