2 technological capitals

I've just culturally converted an enemy planet which has technological capital built on it. An I already have technological capital on one of my planets. What is goingto be a result? Will both of these capitals provide bonuses on planets where they are built?

Yes, both will work. The 'capitol' is only another building, though it can be built only once it can be captured many times over.

To really make the capitol unique, it should be dismantled if the planet revolts or is conquered, forcing the new owner to rebuild something (and presumably not his only capitol). But the game doesn't do that (yet).

Strategically, this is fun since it makes capitol planets more desireable for conquest.

Just for the record....

Capitol = The building of Congress in Washington D.C. (Earth), or the original building of the same name and function in ancient Rome

Capital = The political, economical or technological center of a country or planet (in GalCiv).

By the way, will the civilization that lost its capital building be able to rebuild it on another planet?

What is unforunate, though, is that if you haven't built your capital yet, then you lose your captial. Example: I was waiting for a good planet to make my own manufacturing capital. In the meanwhile, I conquered a planet that had a manufacturing capital. As a result, I could no longer build my own. Lesson learned: build my own first (or at least get it into the building queue) before conquering enemy's.

Yep, all captured super projects work just fine. This gets really powerful if you capture things like the hyperion logistics center and hyperion shrinker that affect your whole civilization. Once you get a few of these, you have larger fleets and smaller weapons than everyone else can ever get.

Why isn't there a way to decommission Capital structures? Or even upgrade the tile to another structure? I once accidently built a capital on a tile that gave a bonus to research, and I wanted to relocate the capital to another Tile to take advantage of building a Research facility on the bonus tile, but no luck. The only way I think it'd be possible is if you destroyed the Colony and that's just absurd. Shouldn't we have control over every single structure built and whether or not we want to decomission it at some point??

I think this is just a strategic issue which is brought to the game. Planets with special buildings will become more "valuable" to conquer than others.

To return to the topic. the technological capital only boosts bonuses on the planet on which its built. So a good idea is to put a lot of research buildings on these planets. Same with economic capital and manufacturing capital btw.

Yeah, I hate that. The AI doesn't use the unique buildings very efficiently and if you haven’t build or placed your buildings in the construction queue somewhere, you're stuck with the computer's design.

So many times I've seen every capital on the same planet (especially Toria, always ends up their), and while this is all wonderful and patriotic of the nice aliens, it means there is no room to actually build anything USEFUL
So my capitals, which I save, are wasted on a frigging useless planet. I would say we should be able to decommision capitals, but on second thought that would remove some of the strategic element of the game. But could it be coded so the AI are more picky about where the capital is?
