How do you read the weapons loadout on a ship design?

I used to do this via clicking 'Upgrade' in the Shipyard and then looking at the various components. But I couldn't do it with core ships.

Now that 'upgrade' nukes the components I don't have a way of seeing the exact specs on a design (to see if I want to upgrade it or otherwise). Any help?

I'm not sure exactly what you asking here. Are you asking how to get a list of each component on the ship, or are you asking how to see a ship's stats?

Select the ship that you want to look at, and click the Info button (the little i in the circle on the right of the bar that contains the ship's name).

Each component. Like what make and quantity of engines it has, what revision its lasers are, etc.

I don't like that paticular nerf. I don't like having to monkey around with all the component sizes again just because I want to put on a better engine. Let me COPY the design, as I am quite capapble of removing the parts I want to upgrade (and not the ones that do not need attention).
