I've been playing the game alot recently and I have come up with some ideas I would like to share.
I've noticed some of the tech trees are pretty skimpy.
The weapon tech trees are pretty full, and in contrast, planetary improvements are pretty shabby.
It seems whenever I get a planet that can support a high population, e.g. with 2x 300 farming bonus squares,
I have to fill half the planet with virtual reality centers to keep them from revolting.
Also, I would like to be able to improve planet quality after terraform. The terraform tree is pretty short too.
Sometimes, it seems the tech tree is way too linear. Not enough diversity from one tech to the next, especialy endgame.
I would love to be able to build stargates that move my fleet from one position to another instantly or would love to be able to have some kind of device (like a intredictor) that works like a space station, and when a enemy ship is flying through their area of effect, they would stop them to one move per turn or something. This would also help protect space stations from the inevitable destruction they seem to face.
I absolutely love what the programers have done with planet building, but again, its entirely too little you can build. Not enough diversity. I think we can take this alot further.
Planets should have different charachteristics, such as gravity , water, ice, sand, trees, tempreture , you name it, it should be there, and what we build should take that into consideration. You should be able to build certain structures on water that you can not on land, or build certain structures in mountains that you could not in forests.
This would give the planets the personality which they are lacking now. They all just seem the same.
