..If you really wanted to compete with Civ4, you might want to consider giving players more options. New ways to interact with aliens and new options for improving/changing your planets.

A bit of newbie-friendly options (automated stuff that is too complicated for new players to worry about) couldn't hurt, either.

'course to do any of this you'd probably have to add an entirely new layer of depth to the game, which isn't really an option for a patch.

one thing that i think would be great would be either more or better tutorial videos or a training section of the campaign that is called training where you get guided through the step to play the game along with some suggestoins on more complex strategies

Why should it compete? I own both and enjoy both.

Seems to me that the game is already one of the best selling currently out. I don't think competing with other games is an immediate worry.

It's obvious, too compete with civ4 (has L. Nimoy), there needs to be W. Shatner in GC2.

Now that would be interesting--have each alien race have a recorded voice over instead of text. Shatner could be the Terran (although I picture Bruce Boxleitner, the guy from Babylon 5) more.
Each of the actors that played the alien leaders would be interesting voice overs, in fact--especially Peter Jurassik, the guy who played Londo.

Drengin - James Earl Jones (I find your lack of skill disturbing)

Altarians - W. Shatner (Our five turn mission, to explore strange new PQ 0 worlds, to seek out new life and pester civilizations . . . )

Korx - Ben Stein (Today we have a similar debate over this. Anyone know what this is? Class? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone seen this before? The Learning Curve. Anyone know what this says? It says that at this point on the revenue curve, you will get exactly the same amount of revenue as at this point. This is very controversial. Does anyone know what Brad Wardell called this in 2225? Anyone? Something-d-o-o economics. "Voodoo" economics.)

Humans - Bill gates (I have 100 BC... You realize I could spend 3 million credits a day, every day, for the next 100 years? And that's if I don't make another dime. Tell you what-I'll buy your right arm for a million dollars. I give you a million bucks, and I get to sever your arm right here. )

Brad shoots down that suggestion every time it comes up.

Bragging about GC2's sales might be more meaningful if this weren't the traditionally slow months of game sales. Which is probably why StarDock released it at this time.

Some people are intent on spoiling the party whatever it takes!

@DarkTalon.... thats was very funny!

It's got to be said though..... I'd much prefer Jean Luc Picard's voice than bumbling Mr (oooh did I leave my false teeth in the Hyperdrive again?) Shatner
