OMFG the ship editor needs its own app.

Spent 90 minutes fiddling around creating a super cool looking new ship... game crashes on saving the design! My fault for not saving the *game* as opposed to the *design* as I was working on it, I guess, but if Word, etc. can protect my work when the application crashes, I wish GC2 would as well. DAMMIT I'm so pissed. Time to start digging through the game directory and see if anything is still there...

Make sure you have 1.0X.  There was a bug in the 1.0 release where if you went to the ship yard from a really indirect route that the design would crash.

Thanks.... now oddly enough the .shipclass file is in my \my docs\galciv2\ships but it doesn't appear in the shipyard. Any thoughts on reintroducing it to the game? Unbelievable that you guys even respond with quick helpful replies to bitchy posts! 1.0x.1 btw.

I would second the option for a separate shipbuilder

When Im in the zone of playing, I dont have time for building nice ships, but I would like to have the option to do that at a later more convenient time and use those designs in my next campaigns/conquests

So no way to get .shipclass files to show up in a particular savegame? I mean, it was a short game, so I'm not gonna die if I can't use this ship right away, but it'd be nice to have the design available in future games. How does that work, exactly? I've noticed that Ship A I designed a week ago will become available at a completely different game later in time.
