What are the difference between the 3 versions (Download, Retail, Collector's)

Can someone please explain what you get in the Retail box, that you don't get with the download.
And what do you get in the Collector's Edition that you don't get in the Retail box.

Of course if this info is already available and I've missed it, sorry for the trouble, but can you provide a link to it.

With the retail box you get the disc which you can use to easily install the initial 1.0 version anywhere, without SDC or a serial key. You will need SDC and/or serial to get updates, however.

With the pure download, you get the same game as with retail, sans box, disc, and printed manual. You must download it through SDC, but after it's on your machine it's just like the retail version--get updates via SDC. Note that the download version (and the retail after you patch it) use online activation the first time you run them, or during installation. Normally SDC handles this so you will only need to bother with it if something goes wrong, or the machine you're installing on has no internet.

With either version you can use the archive option in SDC to pack it up with all patches for backup or transport to another machine.

The collector's edition is the same game, but with some extra cosmetic ship design pieces, a GC2 desktop theme, and (in the retail CE box only) a tech-tree poster. The European CE has different items in it (I believe there is a tin box and some cast miniatures). At least in North America, the CE seems to be only available from Stardock and WalMart. All other retailers are carrying the standard version only, though Stardock granted access to the digital CE items to all first-run buyers and download-only preorders.

So am I correct in my understanding that the only way to get the CE now is to find it in a store somewhere?
Does anyone know if the the CE will be available in Australia and if so will it be limited to a particular chain of stores?
