Patch Wishlist

(post what extra or alterations you hope for in future patches and/or expansions.

Heya Folks

I imagine such a thread already exists but couldn't see it, so I thought I'd start the ball rolling.

Post what additions/alterations and/or fixes you'd like to see for future patches and/or expansions.

things i'd like..

1. Ability to steal ships via espionage and decomission them in order to get a chance of learning technologies enemy used to build it.
2. As above with regard to planets..i.e if i take a worl and it had an up[grade or facility i didnt have i have a chance of learning it if i decomission it..but the risk is not learning it and losing it on that world if i dont.
3. Ability to have games made up of multipl custom races!!!!! so we can properly make out rebel alliance vs empire games or 12 colonies of man vs the cylons etc..
4. More ship parts (goes without saying).. but including hull shapes (need a big traingular hulll...*Cough* star destroyer anyone).
5. Dummies guide to tweaking seeing as not all of us speak gobbledigook VB, xml or whatever the heck is necessary to tweak the xmls.
6. Ability to have dread lords as a chosen enemy in a custom no campaign game.
7. Tweak to the espionage with regard to stealing enemy technologies..as you can steal the alignment based ones. Obviously you cant use them if they arent of your alignment but telling me I stole psionic missiles off the evil guy and not being able to use them is annoying. If I have it i should be able to. If I cant then i shouldnt have it and it shouldnt tell me i do.

The ability to terraform class 0 worlds at some point would be nice too.

Well, I for one don't want to be able to terraform class 0 world.
First, it's silly to have every planet in the galaxy colonised.
Second, it would supposedly be lot of work for very little benefit. They would be low-level crap.
Third, if I ignored my class 0 planets, the AI would probably terraform and colonise them and they would probably end up mine anyway because of culture. And like I said, I don't want crap planets.

I have also read that espionage will get a big update in the first expansion.

Ability to name each of your opponents like you could in GCI. Unless you can already do this and I'm just stupid.

You can play against the Dreadlords in the "Dreadlords on Parade" scenario.

The ability to board enemy ships during combat as opposed to just attacking them would be nice so i can capture some alien looking ships for my home fleet.

Also Some ship combat Tactics to correlate to the kinds of tascts we see in ground invasions would be nice and add a new tactical dynamic to ship combats.

Ability to have a Non Campaign Custom Game with multiple Custom created races would be high on my list too.

also some benefit to worlds with moons would be nice as moons have resources too even if they dont all have atmospheres.

ability to put outposts on a world would be nice too ias a precursor to colonisation.. no income, no building simply troops to prevent invasion only kind of affair and an extension of sensors and influence.

I am short sighted so most of these are for visual convienience...

A) When I choose a colour for my Civ I would like a significantly different colour chosen for all the other Civs.
B) When I select a ship its particular route should change to different colour to the other ships visible in the minimap.
C) My Ships and Starbases should be a different colour to the other Civs on the minimap.
D) Starbases should be in a different colour to movable Ships on the minimap and if a Ship is on the same space as a Starbase then it should be a third colour to indicate this fact.
E) When building an item on a world the influence / industrial / economic / upkeep / defence benefits should be shown when the item is selected before adding it to the build queue.
F) Clicking on the Blue Ship Built icon which takes you to the newly built ship should also deactivate the currently selected ship so that when it is told to go somewhere the currently selected ship doesnt move instead of the newly created ship.
G) When a Ship is on "Sentry" duty it should be able to ignore certain types of non threatening ships to prevent the need to reinitiate "Sentry" duty each turn (If the player wishes to) ... ie Frieghters, Scouts and Constructor ships.
H) When upgrading a Starbase it would be nice to know what the Starbase is in particular need of before telling the Constructor to build an improvement to it.
I) I would like to be able to move a Starbase after is has been built. (Perhaps with a penalty whilst the Starbase is in movement).
