Changing number of starting ability points.

I have been looking around, and I can't seem to find a way to change the standard 10 starting ability points you can distribute with a Custom Race. I found a similar option, called , but even setting this to 200 doesn't change a thing! Also, how do you add alot more points to the Starting Tech's menu?

If you goto http://www.arutilities.com/galciv2/galciv2.html you can download a utility that will allow you to modify the abilities file. Then you can set the cost for abilities to zero so you can choose as many as you wish. Also, you can change the bonus amount. For example, you can give yourself a 1000% research bonus if you wish.

Without getting into the extreme excesses that are on par with a "trainer" mod, I recently posted an ability based mod you folks might be interested in if your intent is to explore different ability combinations (within reason) during game play. The post is in this Link

For some reason any changes made in the XML file aren't working for me.

If I change it manually or with the editor linked in this thread , there seems to be no way for me to edit / change the start ability points.

Am I doing something wrong here? (missing something maybe)?

Any insights would be appreciated.

Hi Spartan,

Yes I downloaded the mod and it didn't work initially.
Then it dawned on me that I hadn't patched , so I did that.
After patching it all worked like a charm
