sensorship?

how much is too much?

so I finally climbed my way up the sensor tech and was all ready to make my super-see all hear all-spy drone.

I used a Large hull and crammed it with all kinds of jewelry and all the sensors it could hold.

NICE! my ship has a sensor rating of 23.

until I get it out in space. then its only 15. 15?!?!? what happened to the rest of the sensors?

is there a limit on how many sensors a certain size hull can have? would seem that if there is space for it then it should work right?

It is capped at 15 parsecs for all hull types. Also, most people use cargo hulls as they are alot cheaper and have the room to do it.

now that I know its limited to 15 then I will use cargo hull. I wanted to use as many as possible thats why I went with large. guess i'll have to find a way to MOD the 15 parsec limit cause on huge maps that just isnt enough for me and my need to know where everyone is in the universe attitude.

thanks for the quick responses

The sensor range was limited because larger ranges may cause serious performance problems, especially when combined with certain events.

Did anyone else think the title said 'censorship'?
I have to say that of all the forums I have visited, this one seems to need the absolute least censorship and moderation, so I was kind of surprised!

There are massive performance hits. If you want to see everything in your empire just race to sensor 4 and build eyes of the universe. You will then see all ships on the minimap. You also get a 10 parsec boost to your sensors eliminating the need for Awacs all together.

Yup!

And I really want to know how to build a censor ship, because it'd be awesome to fly around the galaxy while burning incense.

Censor ships could be mobile re-education centers.

it would be nice if the sensor cap varies with the size of galaxy...
