Need help exporting to .x with Panda!

I am using 3ds max 7 trial version, and I got the Panda Exporter working and all, but im a total newb and when I try to export a scene to .x, it ends up dumping all the objects into seperate files...So for some of these very complex models I end up having hundreds of different files for each part of the ship...

I tried using the DirectX Exporter from MS, but it crashes 3ds more often than not on some models, and other times it will just completeley mess up the model (ship pieces all over the scene!!). Ether that, or the DX Model viewer just crashes outright.

How do I just make it dump everything into one file so I can use it in GalCiv2?

don't use the script, just go to file->export and select the .x type, then make sure that the 'top level frame' is checked instead of 'frame per object'

Yeah but it is hard pressed to find another .x exporter, even DirectX doesn't have have one for 3DS Max for any version only Maya. And it bites cause you have to invert your model just so that it would appear correct in the game. I have been working on a few mods for the game. Also to add some ships and graphics for new weapon types. But my problem is that all my meshes come out black no light on the model, so I researched another exporter and got one. But the same problem, are you having a problem with lighting aswell? I know its the model and not the lights because I imported it into a .x file from the game and edited there but stilll no luck.
