Update on Cheater Flagged games

The bug that has been causing games to be flagged as cheating is caused by having a negative number of abilities points left on the Customize Race window.   There was a bug that was causing the abilities bonuses to double every time you went to that screen, and that's the bug that I fixed.  I didn't realize that two of the major races have negative abilities points left without customization: the Arceans and the Korx.

While you are waiting for the fix, if you want to play the Arceans or the Korx in a metaverse game, you should edit their abilities via the Abilities tab so that they don't have negative points left over.

edit: If you want your scores fixed, e-mail your end game saves and player name to [email protected] and I'll fix them as I have time.

Arggg, just after I overwrote the endgame saves I need them! I guess I can't play as my favorite race the Korx for a while

About the metaverse: are there different ladders? Is there a Beginner ranking in the MV tree, or does everyone have to play a hardcore game against insane AIs?

You can play any game you want. Harder opponents only give you more points. If you want to play cakewalk games on Metaverse, then you can.

You can sort the Meta.

What if I didn't realize until now that the Metaverse flagged my game as having cheats, when it was just the -1 race points bug causing it? Can I still get that game counted as a non-cheating game, even though I don't have the ending savegame for it? I really don't like having that game on my record as a loss, especially considering I still haven't lost a single game yet, whether it's on Metaverse or not....

i had 3 games flag as cheating. the bug also effects saved customs races to, i just noticed this. When ever u load a custom race it adds two more abilities that i did not select.

Well, I had one flagged tonight, the first time I played a custom. It was a bit upsetting

I went to my docs and deleted all the custom races and redid them. Played another game and it was not flagged

Ummm... I am not sure how, or why, my very first metaverse game got flagged for cheating. My best guess is that it is because I used my custom race that I had during the campaign, then updated the game to 1.0x from the retail version, and since the race was the way I liked it, I didn't even bother to check stats and just clicked next. I no longer have the save game obviously, but is it possible to just erase that game from my characters games?

Had exactly that same problem myself, only played 2 whole games before spotting the cheat flag on my metaverse character history. Looking at the customer race I was playing as seems I have the same symptoms - my save race has -1 points available.

The extra picks are intended!

I would assume so, but when one just clicks "Next" since they liked the custom race they used from playing normal games, and doesn't even bother to look at abilities and see the "-1", it's hard to notice and thus kind of a rip off when you initially have no idea why it got flagged.

Can a dev or someone at Stardock PLEASE erase my first game?

The bug also affects the Yor. All I did when I set up the game was change political party and ship colors, and it assigned the abilities a -1. Played a nice long game only to see it flagged as a 'cheater' game.

My next game I kept the same settings as my last game, but unchecked the 'creative' trait to put my abilities total at 0.

Its a shame that playing default settings gets a game labeled as 'cheater codes detected'.

I agree that it's a shame when an update causes a game to get flagged because default values changed. I've been asking for a few weeks now if a dev could just remove the game from my stats. I just want the game removed from my list, don't care about the flag anymore since I obviously don't have the save game, I just want the game removed and would REALLY appreciate SOMEONE who can at least give me some feedback.

Grrrrrrrr............. Darn!!! It just happened to me. I didn't see this post til now. That is annoying. Was playing the Yor and did not notice the minus. Just sent my save game in, hopefully it will get fixed. I think I am going to stop playing til they get the metaverse and the cheating flag fixed.

I cleared my metaverse character when 1.11 came out, and have gotten into the habit of "tweaking" every page of the game start process, due to all the problems. It's interesting that all my medals (what few and feeble ones I have) still remain, but then I hope to surpass them soon if I can get the time to play.

I've tried sending my savegame file twice now, both times bounced saying either the file is too big or Stardock's mailbox is full.

My savegame file is 8.1MB. Do I need to compress it or do I need to wait a week to allow Stardock to free up space in thier mailbox?

You have to zip it.  Generally, you don't ever want to try sending a file bigger than 2 or 3 MB.

Damn, had no idea this was going on. Just played my first 1.1 metaverse game as the Drengin and got flagged as a cheater. Didn't pay any attention to what was going on at the start of the game as the racial settings were exactly the same as those I used with 1.0X and I got no cheater flag there. At least I'll know what to do for next time but it's still a right royal pain in the a***.

Unfortunately I have already lost my save game, is it possible to just have the game struck off my record? Thanks.

I just got flagged for a cheat code in Version 1.2 Beta 1 game. I just use the standard Drath race, but there was a "Custom Race" AI in the game somehow. What's worse is that I got my butt kicked in the game and I got flagged for cheating.

I also have just been flagged for cheating, I was the Thalians, there was no custom race in the game. This was version 1.2 Beta 1

That really sucks. It just happened to me too, and on my first "huge" galaxy map.

I was all proud cause I won too.

Also any idea why It says NORMAL as my skill? 9 of my ten games have been on challenging.

It'll probably say normal until you win a few more games on challenging, even better, I'd imagine winning just one on "Tough" would make it go up to challenging. My guess is that it takes the average difficulty by giving each difficulty level a numerical value, then taking the average of that number and rounding down.

What is and how did you get that "Wounded in Action" medal?
