Collectors Edition?

Hey, all. I've been trying to get my hands on this game for awhile now, but of course I just can't seem to ever find it at any of the stores I visit. My question is, was the collectors edition of the game pre-orders only? If I buy the regular game would I still have access to the collectors edition downloads, etc? Thanks.

Also, anyone know when stores should start having the game in stock?

If you want the CE stuff, you need to buy the CE edition. Wallmart only sells the CE edition. Stardock (the developers) also only sells the CE edition. Other places will be hit and miss, and some retailers don't differentiate between the two versions in their inventory, so the only way to be sure to is eye ball it.

If you order from Stardock, you can download and start playing immediately while your CE CD is being mailed to you.

I understand there are three things that distinguish the CE edition. 1. a cool silver box if you get the boxed edition. 2. A printed tech tree, but if you search the forum you can find PDF's you can print yourself. 3. Around 12 -15 extra jewelry pieces that you can decorate your ships with. Nothing super special in the extra pieces, but they are nice to have.

If you must have the CE edition, and there is no Wallmart handy, just order from Stardock.

I haven't seen it at Walmart in my area, but I'll most likely get it through Stardock, but are you sure its the Collector's Version? From the store link I haven't seen any mentioning of it, only reason I'm hesitating to buy it.

And not that I'm picky, but if ordered through Stardock, is it just the CD? Or does it come in that foil box, and all the other features that were included? I'd assume that would be Preorder only, but just curious.

Is there anyway to get the 12-15 jewelry pieces with the regular version ?
The CE version is extremely rare here, so I'm forced to buy the normal version (in Belgium).
The normal one will already cost me 45 € (about 57 USD, which is more than Americans pay for the CE version) and I'm unable to purchase it online (credit cards are disallowed for students here).

Heh, I think I got a hit on my shot. I wasn't expecing the collectors edition, but I got mine from gamestop, got home, installed, downloaded patch, then I tired to see if I could get into one of the collectors edition keys places, and it worked.
