No in-game movies?????

Start game cinematics and in-game movies do not play, the sound is OK but the movies do not play... I've loaded the game on my laptop and the work fine but they do not play on my desktop system...

Perhaps some more detailed system information would help with troubleshooting.

OS?
Video Card?
Updated video drivers?
Version of the game?
Did you download and install the movie pack completely?
Is it just a blank screen?
Do the tutorial videos play?
Do the smaller animations play in the research window?

Hello, I have the very same issue on my desktop

OS?
-> XP, SP2, french language
CPU/RAM?
-> AMD 2400+, 1GB RAM (SDRAM)
Video Card?
-> Geforce 5200FX
Updated video drivers?
-> yes, 2 days ago from Nvidia.
Version of the game?
-> bought the european's collector edition, then downloaded the latest patch (1.0 something) 2 days ago from Stardock
Did you download and install the movie pack completely?
-> yes
Is it just a blank screen?
-> no, Video starts and then it all freezes, as well as the intro movie.
Do the tutorial videos play?
-> did not try the tutorials, but when I invade a planet it does the same (a few seconds movie, then freeze, but game goes on perfectly well)
Do the smaller animations play in the research window?
-> I did not notice there were any, I'll check.

Great if you could be helping me, I can play the game perfectly well but still it's a bit frustrating, I feel like I'm missing something. thank you!
