Planetary Invasion / Defense

Hi,
I'm not sure if im understanding the advantage factor on planetary invasion when being invaded.
For instance, I lost a planet where i had 68 soldiering, 30k tech vs the Yor who had 30 soldiering and 20K tech in a battle where i had 15000 and he invaded it with 1000 (4 times in a row). With advantage factors of 12 vs. 9 (ish).
How in the world could i be loosing that...
Im tempted to say that the advantage factor on defense is gimped / actually reversed (allthough the example i provide here doesnt proof much into that direction).
Bottomline is that defenders are waaaaaay in the disadvantage even with much higher stats (which makes playing a pure defensive game impossible).

.Anyway i didn't have any problem with traditional warfare and 1000 troops to conquer dreadlords.I say that soldiering is a bit weak because invaders have too much advantages and also with very good soldiering is very hard to defend a planet.Mass driver choice assure you everytime victory also if the defender has the best soldiering.Economy or research at least give you a long period advantage.
