Number in parenthesis after influence

In the colony screen and on the main map if a planet is selected, there is a number after the Influence Points in parenthesis. I've usually seen it as 0.00 at the start of the game. What exactly is this number? I couldn't find a reference to it anywhere. Thanks!

It is the degree to which another civ's influence is affecting that planet. To put it simply: when it reaches more than 4.0, there's a chance that the planet might rebel. The higher the value and the lower the planet's moral, the more likely a rebellion will occur. When it does occur, the planet abandon's you and joins the other civ. You can do this to other civs, too. A heavily upgraded influence starbase works well, if placed near another civ's planet. Of course, the higher the planet's influence, the harder it is.

Don't bother trying it on minor races. Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe turning a minor race is impossible.

I've not only turned a minor race, I've turned AI homeworlds. Its not that easy, though, I had to build a massive infrastructure to generate the research to shoot ahead of the AI (ESPECIALLY the Terrans who love to try and win through cultural domination) for Influence techs (both for my colonies and Influence space stations). But it worked! I've turned every last colony of some civs (and generally wind up winning through a Cultural conquest victory, of course .... say hello to iKorx!)

I've never flipped a minor race and, in truth, I really didnt think it was possible given that you can drop influence bases right next to them, have high influence planets right next to them..... and they still never flip.

Flipping core AI worlds isn't very difficult once you hit a critical mass of influence - they dont even need to be within your cultural boundaries.
