Starship Creator ANNOYING BUG

HOW DO YOU FIX THIS?

Before I got the Collectors Edition patch(or whatever it is) the starship creator worked perfectly.

Now when I go to upgrade a ship it keeps the extra items (wings, decorations) and deletes the beams, and all of the stuff that takes up space!!!!

You don't. The patch 1.0x.1 changed the way it works. You now loose all components when you hit upgrade. It sounds like this will be temporary until the 1.1 patch comes along with better upgrade options.

At first I did not like this, but now that I am used to it, it is no biggie. Now I can easily make sure I have the best available at the time of upgrade.

Agreed... make it an option! This is now a broken "fix" for those of us that liked it the way it was.

This is a "fix"?? It's a BUG. You spend all this time configuring everything, and then you have to start from an empty hull?? I'm sitting there trying to remember, was this the ship that I had all the armor on and combined with missles, or was it the other one? Hm, I don't recall, press cancel, look at my ships again, aha, I remember now, go back into update, start over...

BUG! It did fix the old obsolete ships from sticking around though, now just fix it so it retains your previous status.

It is not a bug when it is intentional.

Indeed

Besides, I like it the way it works now.
I used to manually remove all functional components so that I could start outfitting with newer components anyway .
And now it's easier to recycle cool designs.

Well, it's one of the most annoying "features" I've seen for some time...

It pretty much makes the Upgrade button useless. I like to make small changes whenever I get a new tech, but that has now become a chore. Please make this optional so that the ship designer gets fun to use again!

I like the knew function.  It was highly annying removing the compents that I intented to replace.  Beside A new mix is just what the upgrade is about.  Without having to redesign the structure

What can I say, it makes updating less tidious job and faster. I like it, waiting for 1.1 with great expectations.

I actually rather like it. I only have to burn half an hour getting a ship to look just right once, rather than having to redesign the same ship over and over for EACH FRIGGIN ITERATION.

Fair enough if you spend that long on the design, but for my use the designer has become more tedious.

Anyway, the way the developers solved your problem makes no sense. I would have ADDED some sort of prototype functionality, I would NOT have REMOVED a perfectly fine function! Considering how cool the designer is, it boggles the mind why they chose this route.

I just had a brainwave about this. Hopefully a Stardock employee is reading. I liked the old Upgrade functionality although there are nice aspects about the "new" upgrade functionality. But here's an idea that might please both camps.

The Upgrade button could maybe leave all the old components on, but allow you to upgrade individual components by highlighting them and double clicking the new upgraded component from the list. Just like the colony manager.

This way you wouldn't have to remove an item unless you actually intended to do away with it. Fewer clicks, satisfies both sides' requirements.

EDIT: I think I'll post this in a new suggestion thread, even.

I agree with darktango you play like 30 turns then you get Plasma (or something like that) and you have to remember everything that you put on it in the past!!!

You should be able to remove CERTAIN components like weapons, defenses, life support, ect.

I would like to see seperate component bars. One for modules, weapons, and defense; another for jewellery.
Rarely do I change the jewellery on a ship when upgrading, however I'm always swapping out modules.

Im actually so annoyed by this BUG (or whatever you want to call it) that I dont even want to play it!

I guess for now I will just fall back to Age of Empires Three until the next patch is out.

I sure hope a Stardock employee is watching this post.( cough cough an AVATAR)

I also think this knew "feature" is annoying. Please make it an option, I don´t like to put the best sensor back on every time I upgrade my ships weapon. The sensors and life support I don´t upgrade as mutch as the weapons and defense. So please fix this or at least make it optional!
