Crash after loading videos

My Galactic Civilizations 2 game crashes right after showing the two loading videos. This is what i get:

AppName: galciv2.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: lib3d.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00008e43

And it asks me to send an error report. Im running this on a laptop with these specs:

Dell Inspiron 5100 1024x768 32bit
WIN XP Professional
2.8 Ghz P.4
ATI mobility Radeon 7500 64mB
512mB ram
30 GB HD

Any help?

Okay i updated the game and i got past that, but when i choose my race and class and then i proceed to load the game, it starts loading and then i get a d3d9.dll error. any ideas?

I'm very interested in this too. I have a laptop with similar specs and the only thing that is preventing me from buying the game is knowing if it can run on my laptop.

i have a similar problem. When i first bought the game, without any patches included, it worked perfectly fine. Then I downloaded the newest patch for the game and my videocard so now when I play galciv2, it crashes right after i choose my race for a new game.
....and it asks me for an error report.
Im running Windows XP x64 edition.
I have a Radeon X300, 3.0 GHZ, and 1 gig of Ram.
