crahes when loading games

Mine's doing the same thing- ever since I applied the latest patch (010 I think) all saved games crash to the desktop right after reloading them, every one consistantly... so I rolled back the version to 09 I think and everything's fine again, so don't buy another video card just yet, chances are the next patch will fix it if this bug is as common as I think it is...

Ok as a common rule dont upgrade Galciv II until you finish the current game you are playing. Most of the upgrades are fine to integrate, however since the days of GC1 there have been more errors than not if you upgrade and then try loading a saved game.

You should be fine to start a new game, save and then reload that. Might be an idea to test this as if that doesnt work then you will need further technical advise..

I've got the same problem and i found a way around it

Create a new game first, with the race you're going to play and, from inside the game, load the game you wanted to load. If i don't do that, games from before and after the patch crash when i try to load them.

i think i got round it another way....well it works now so i must have. i changed the anti-aliasing settings up to x3. the video clips run in a staggering pace but at least the game works now....ish....just had to quit a game cos my turn button disappeared.....might wait for the next patch to start playing again. thanks for your advice anyway

I have the same issue from a game saved previuously. Its a large metaverse game which i have nearly won so its very annoying.

On the smaller maps I think it's ok

I too am having the issue. I bought the game online through stardock and have upgraded as they have been posted through stardock central. I deleted all my old games started a new one. played for a few days and then all of a sudden it crashes when loading a saved game. I get a window from windows asking to send a bug report to microsft. I've sen it so many times now i don't bother with it any more. I also loaded the smart exception software, but that doesn't give me anything. Once it crashes and i click don't send on the windows box, i checked the smart exception and the wasn't anything in their except the system info:

I have this same problem. I'm running an Nvidia Go5600. I have the most recent drivers available for this device(78.70) since the mobile drivers aren't updated with the rest of the forceware. This has occured since the X patch.

Paddy2, I have the same vid card as you and had the same problem twice today. You won't believe the solution that worked for me...I simply loaded the game then waited a good ten seconds before loading my save. Worked fine. Dunno why!

Same for me, crashes alot when i try to reload. On a Geforce 6600. Guess I'll try some of the ideas posted here to get it to work. Didn't have the problem until I intalled lasted patch.

I also have these problems and the same video card as the first poster. This problem only started with the latest patch as well. I have tried the other fixes and they have faild to work for me. Any help that you could give myself and the other posters would be greatly appreciated, as I'd rather not go through the entire campaign again.

I just wanted to mention that the "Start a New Game and then load my saved game" trick has worked for me.
