Modding the interface

Hello everybody,

i would like to ask if it is possible to modd the interface. In detail: I would like to see my custom portrait somewhere in game.
After the selection with which civilization you want to play you will never see your portrait again.
So the idea was to see your portrait in the actual game. For example there is the Civilization Manager -> Folder "Stats & Graphs"! There is the name of your leader with the logo next to it on the left. I think changing the interface here to display the portrait instead of the logo would be a great thing.

Is modding the interface like this possible

according to the developers the interface is directly editable in "desktopx professional" you should search for a .dxpack and load that up in desktop x...

Only in Professional? Been trying to do it with the normal Desktop X 3 and so far no luck.


Update: Alright I am getting somewhere, give me some time.

Next update: I can now add stuff to the interfaces but the problem is... without being able to find out the scripts I can't change the logo to the portraight. Kind stuffed untill we get Dev help.

Still waiting on Dev help here.

I can change the look but I can't get to the code that will basically say "This image should be this when displayed." Example being changing the logo on the stats screen to the portraight instead.

Thanks for your answers

i have tried Desktop X 3.1 and i can open the Interface. I even found the correct button called "race logo...." but i can´t change or modd it.
But as i am no Modder my knowlledge end here

I am a modder, sadly the problem is there really is no code to access in other words we can change the look but anything else is impossible without Dev help.

You know if you just want to see your custom portrait.. why not make a modded RaceImage__ or RaceLogo__ ? Images are 256x256 png and logo 128x128 png
and are found in the \gfx\race folder. I would suggest either using a name (Example: RaceImage__mycustom) or a larger number than one used by game (Example: RaceImage75 )

Is that what you want ?? If you want to put your picture into the UI you will need DesktopX. Other than this fact, I can't help you there.

Shogun, I believe you should read this thread a little closer. He's trying to figure out how to make the picture appear in the Civilization Manager->Stats and Graphs window, not just put in some random custom image.

Also, he already has DesktopX

I think he just wanted to get his post count up.

Anyway, so far I still have made no progress. Still waiting on Dev help also.
