How about a popup when other civs go to war?

I would like to see some sort of popup or message when one AI civ declares war on another AI civ. I think there's a popup when they declare peace, because after declaring war on someone, they turned around and made peace with their enemy to better focus on me.

I think you get a popup when your espionage efforts are high enough.
This might be a bit stretched though for simple informations like declarations of war and the like.

Well if you have high enough spying they tell you when the civs make peace, so finding out about their going to war only seems logical.

Never seen a pop-up announcing a 'going to war' effort, even when i have had full espionage capabilities. Only time i ever get them is if i am an ally of the race that war is being declared against!

Yep .... never seen it either, even when I had total espionage domination. Furthermore, why exactly would you need espionage to determine if two races are at war or at peace? Its not exactly a secret

This would be helpful.

How about the devs let us use the amazing 3D UI they built properly, with resizable floating windows? If you could leave a trimmed down domestic or treaty window in a corner, you'd be constantly up-to-date.

I always get notified when another civilization will attack me, they says something like we will wipe you out, etc, never had a civ attack me without first declaring war on me.

I agree that a popup would be a really useful addition. As things stand now, you pretty much have th check the treaties screen in foreign relations to see which of the other civs are at war with each other.

I completely agree. A war declaration popup is sorely missed.

I'm talking about when the computer attacks another computer. The way it is now you have to check the foreign treaties section to see who's fighting who.

No kidding. Just pick up a newspaper, run it through Ye Olde Universal Translator, and voila, you know if they're fighting or not. No espionage necessary.

And alliance notifications too. In my first game I declared war (for the fourth time) on the Altarian Republic to try and remove some of the starbases they had built in my territory, and I accidently sparked a galactic war (my allies vs their allies). I should have looked really, but a notification would make things simpler.

I agree and it wouldn't be such a big UI or AI change and neither a balance problem either. Perhaps an option like that (to prevent people complaining about it) could be implemented in the 1.1 version.

This would be really great. I really want this feature too and I doubt it would be hard to implement.

Modify it such that it only notifies you of a war between two powers if you are aware of the existence of both two powers.

If you know of neither, you're only told something intentionally vague like "rumors abound of a great war between two empires". If you only know of one, then you're only told of that one's conflict with another galactic power.

I mean it makes no sense to be told that the Terran Alliance has gone to war with the Drengin Empire if you've only met the Terrans and haven't even heard of the Drengin.

I don't think it would be difficult to add either. They could have it show up in the GNN reports, or even as a separate popup. We need a news ticker lol.

After playing more of my current game, I've had my intel tell me so and so made peace with the same enemy - 3 times! And yet I was never informed they were even at war in the first place.
