Ship Designs Remembered game to game. How to delete please ?

I made some rubbish ones!

Hi all.

Was wondering how to delete the remembered ship designs from game to game. I didn't realize this at first, only just now when I saw on one of my tech desciptions : NEW SHIP DESIGNS xxxxxx Mk 1 etc. These appeared in 'allows' future blah blah blah. So I havent acutally got them yet, although the game has remembered them from a previous game where I played the same race. I'm assuming it remembers only race-to-race. So a: what is the easy way please ? and b: if there isn't one then which files should I look at.

Thanks in Advance.

Only way i have been doing it is to delete the ships from the file: -

C:\Documents and Settings\*******\My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ships

Hope that helps

Hmm... both a curse and a blessing

You don't have to remember good designs, but how often do you play exactly the same?

You can delete designs from inside the game.

There is a DELETE button in the Ship Yard screen. This will delete the files associated with the design so they will no longer show up in any game.

If you want to keep your design for another game, but don't want to see it in your current game, you should use the OBSOLETE button in the Ship Yard screen.

Some people design some amazing ships. I typically don't. They look cool enough to me just because all ships look cool in GC2, but I'm not into the depth of design that some enjoy. I usually want to create slighly upgraded design #300 and get into production quickly. I upgrade my designs frequently, it seems.

It'd be nice if carrying over designs between games was optional, because I'd prefer that it not happen. It's exceptionally rare that I research the exact same tech sequence each game so it's exceptionally rare that I use a design from a previous game because it's exceptionally rare that it has the most optimal tech loadout for my current game. I end up deleting every custom design from the previous game as I play a game. I also tend to use different hulls and/or bling for warships between design bumps so I can tell the difference between them easier (rather than simply upgrading my existing design with newer components).

If you logged on to the metaverse before starting the game the ship designs are located at my games\galciv2\metaverse\ships, otherwise they are in the my games\galciv2\ships folder

That's the way it should work but unless they fixed it recently that's not the way it works. Until/unless it gets fixed, delete and obsolete do the same thing. They remove ship designs from your current game but as soon as you start a new one they're all back again.

One fix i found to not get the ships back again if i am playing a different race is to take the saved ship dsigns in my games\galciv2\metaverse\ships, or my games\galciv2\ships folder and move them into a differnt location with the race name as a header for the folder. That way if i am playing as the humans one round and the drengin the next i can easily move the custom ships out of the GCII folders for the Humans and in for the Drengins

Just my work-around ad it saves countless designs on the interface..
