Aquiring High Hit-Points on your ships.

How do I do this?

I just started the campaign and had about 5 ships around a lead military starbase. They all had 2 attack, 2 armor, but just 1 hp.

Two enemy ships kicked the crap out of my fleet, they had 1 attack, 1 armor, and 16 hp.

Kinda choked my pride fleet was done under so quickly! What techs do I need to go after to increase HP count? or What upgrades do I need to build?

Unrelated: Are farms even worth building? Why?

You need to build on a different hull. Cargo hulls have 1 HP, Tiny hulls have 6 HP, Small hulls have 10 HP, Medium hulls have 16 HP, etc. Go into the shipyard, click on NEW, select any hull with more than 1 HP, there you go.

Farms definatly worth building to get more people. More people, more taxes, more troops, ect.

Whenever a ship is successful after a battle, it'll gain 1 hitpoint. Once I had what seemed like the entire Arcean fleet coming after me (turns out they were just chasing some minor race's ships in my territory, but it scared the crap out of me since all their ships were superior to mine and were much, much greater in number.)

What I ended up doing was building a Starbase near the 'invasion' point, and putting every sort of attack/defense assist upgrade on it that I could. Then I had my two fleets destroy them all, as they were beefed up from the Starbase.

Afterwards, my veterans from the battle had 60 hp each. And they were only medium ships.

There are several ways to increase your ship HP:
1) Win battles, as I said above.
2) Research the Hull improvements that come after Basic Logistics.
3) Get the Xanthium (spelling?) Plating trade good.
4) Have the racial ability.

Otherwise you have to build larger ships (heavier hulls).

Going all-out with racial abilities and political parties you can *start* with a +50% hp bonus.

cargo ships don't gain hp, do they?

Hm... well... I've never seen a cargo ship win a battle before. But... maybe?

iv had ships with over 400 hp, theres also a way to repair them to 100% instantly(but it costs money).

so an exploit is to make sure your ships all get low on hp at around the same time(low as in 100/300 or so) and then upgrade all of them to the same model or better model and this repair them and go into -50k, but it becomes -2k next week and it only takes few weeks to get back to no debt if your economy is stable.

How do you improve Logistics? I seem to have researched a bit into it and have gotten 2 or 3 techs saying improved logistics but my fleets still can only house 2 medium ships.

Again, the enemies fleet has one amazingly large ship and 3 little ones.... dunno exactly what but I know it takes more logistics then 10!

certain races(yor and custom) start off with 8 logistics, so they easily get 11 with only the first basic logistic tech.

I like parking 2 fleets around a minor race world that i am at war with. Kill off what ever he builds 1 at a time. Put ships needing repair into second fleet and leave idle to heal. Attack with fresh fleet over and over and watch you hps go up. Did this with a lucky ranger once and its HP were unbeatable even against a fleet of battleships.
