Custom-made ships, whats the restrictions?

Well ok hello everyone i'm a noob. "Hello"..
I just started wondering, since i created a custom race and went on with creating their individual ships as the tech tree got researched.
Then i noticed that those ships were not availible to any other race but my custom race, and thats a good thing! But are they only availible to that particular saved custom race, or for EVERY custom race that i may create in the future?

I would very much like to have a fleet of designated ship designs for one custom race, and no others. Is this possible without any external copy-moving-file-messing-arounding??

They are currently revamping the ship design feature. It is pretty complicated how the ships are saved, and depends if you are playing the campaign or sandbox mode. I don't know the exact answer to your question, and with the coming changes it would be invalid shortly anyways. If you must know now, you can do a quick forum search (it's on the left side).
