psyonic weapons

...and other special ship components

the XML has entries for some weapons and ship components I've never seen before. The three I'm most interested in are:

Psyonic Beam
Psyonic Missile
Psyonic Shredder

How do you get these? I've tried researching up to Phasors II, which seems to be the requirement of Psyonic Beam, but I don't see it in the ship component list.

Does someone have a list of all the "special" components, like Subspace Rebounder, Nano Ripper, etc, and how to get them? I know you get the Nano Ripper every time you research Singularity Driver IV, but I don't know about any of the other components.

You get access to those 3 weapons once you research Xeno Ethics and align with evil. Good gives you access to defense components, while neutral gives you access to an advance trade technology and research improvement, although the research improvement is bugged and gives you nothing.

I thought neutral gave you acces to both new attack and defense components.

It should (that's what the description says) but it doesn't.

OK,...now I know how the Drath Legion arrived at my colony with a 380 hitpoint Dreadnought and kicked my @ss. This was on Normal setting. Bah!

Yeah, the psionic beam weapons rock.

I loaded up a huge hulled ship with them, the best shields, and the best engines, and it was able to singlehandedly wipe out all opposition. Just one ship. If only it looked as cool as the robot in the ship design thread.

NO

If you read the description carefully :
good - ultimate defence components
evil - ultimate attack components
neutral - ADVANCE attack and defence components

or somethnig like that

p.s.: What do you think, what is the best "Good" , "Evil" or "Neutral"?

I just found this links:
https://www.galciv.wikicities.com/wiki/Evil
https://www.galciv.wikicities.com/wiki/Good
https://www.galciv.wikicities.com/wiki/Neutral

and I wonder why is so hard to be "GOOD" in this game?
I mean when you colonize a new planet in 99% there are bonuses onle for the evils,
when you research the "xeno ethic" and must choose your alignment, again the evil alignment gives you the best bonuses
and most of the other civilizacions are with neutral alignment and one or two with evil, that means that if you are evil you will have one or two civs that will be with your alignment and you will have advantages atacing the other civs
ind the end everythink leads you to be evil
WHY?

Because destroying things is always easier than creation, letting people do what they like is harder than trying to get them to see reason and reservation. Humanity on a whole is evil it is only the law and the governments that stop us from being so.

Basically good and evil are really order vs chaos. A chaotic race can't progress since there is no stablity to allow research and development, a ordered society would have great advantages since it allows for stability. So really no race that is capable of FTL travel is actually evil, they are just leaning someway towards it.

This is why there is always middle ground for peace. This is also true with countries in the real world like Iran and North Korean. Both are suppose to be evil but man believe me when I say they are as far from pure evil as humanly possible. Pure evil would be like the Raveers from Serenity, but without the society, they would just be monsters running around tearing everything to bit including one another. The idea that a society could advance from that is just plain stupid.

Anyway morality aside.

Neither the Drengin or the Yor are really evil they are just less tolerate of others, they are like the NAZI on Earth and as such gain an affinity for destruction. They would lean heavily towards more and more destructive abilities since they would be obssessed with destroying more and more of their enemies.

The opposite would be good with them caring about life and their people and so looking for the ability to defend themselves better, hence better shields, armour, PD.

Think the Ancients from Stargate, they were hyper advanced but had the stuffing kicked out of them by an agressive numerically overwhelming race who needed to feed on Humans, they had great weapons but no defensive capability at all. The Ancients had massive defensive technology but were really poor in offensive capability. Humans on the other hand are pretty balanced in both. The Wraith are evil, the Ancients are suppose to be good, and Humans are the neutrals.

Actually I was able to stop the "evil" type AI even after they acheieved xeno ethics and deployed their uber weapons with no help (IE neutral disposition) Unlike us, the AI looks at cost and effect on its economy and simply does not seem to build uber weapon ships as big and well, functional as the rest of us and if it does, it will not create alot of them. Remember, attack when you have the starbase support and run like hell when you don't until you have the numbers to attack.

As evil I have and will make a large capital ship per planet I own, usually 1 medium escort class and 2 heavy fighter class. The large always waits on the uber weapons as I can hold off the other civs with regular numbers until they arrive. Than let the fun begin.

Good hunting... till we meet that is.

In my opinion, in the game, the best alignement is neutral, it boost your moral (wich can indirectly boost your loyalty), it boot your trade (boosting your economy) and boost ground force power against non-neutral parties. Love that alignement. Good and evil might be useful in some galaxies, but I prefer the neutral path, weapons and defense in the normal tech tree are strong enough for me.
