Autorun/installation problem

Didn't find a mention of this problems on the forums/wiki, so I'll post it here.

I have the limited edition(European) of Gal Civ 2 and I get the following error message when I insert the disc in my DVD drive(roughly translated):

"The target schedule.exe, which this shortcut is referring to, has been replaced or is missing. The shortcut does not work properly anymore.

Do you want to remove the shortcut? Yes/No"

I've answered 'No' every time and the startup image opens. Pressing "readme" or any of the weblinks works correctly, but pressing "Install" causes the application to freeze. Accessing the files on disc 1 and running Setup makes explorer.exe to freeze. I don't have any autorun/installation problems with other game cds, only Gal Civ 2. Any ideas?

I have the same problem, excepting that I don't get the error when I insert the disk (only the freeze on install). I have the non-limited edition american version of the game. I'd appreciate any help.

I get the same problem, frozen install at the opening splash screen.

"szAppName : GC2Launch.exe szAppVer : 0.0.0.0 szModName : hungapp
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000 "

Thats the error code I get.
Is it possible to download the game since I have a valid cd key?

I fixed my problem, GC2 installed no problems.
If you have ZoneAlarm you must turn off Program Control.
Thats it. If you have norton, mcaffee, etc, etc I would look for something similar.

The launcher and/or autorun use VBscripts, which at least McAfee blocks outright (regardless of content or function). I don't have the disc to say how to run the installer manually myself, but if you can't get the launcher to work just make a shortcut directly to GalCiv2.exe and run that instead.
