Next ship <tab> not working

When I have a ship selected and its done moving, should

It has to run out of moves to auto-switch, and only then will it switch to a ship that a) has moves available and b) is not on autopilot. Same goes for the key-press (Tab). So if you want full control of your ships, don't leave them on auto-pilot.

Thanks for the reply. Now, if they are on auto-pilot, how do I get them to move when it's the next turn?

Auto pilot kicks in at the end of the turn. When you click the turn button it moves all of your ships with waypoints before going on to the AI turns.
