Dumb question, but how do I colonize a planet?

I just started the game, pleasantly steep learning curve. I have a colony ship and I want to colonize a planet in my home system. I have tried clicking on the ship and there is no "colonize planet" order, clicking on the planet doesnt help either.

Also, how do I manually move the ships around?

Click the colony ship and right click a destination to move the ship.

To colonize, drive the ship into the planet. It will automatically colonize for you.

Edit- Um... Make sure the planet is above Class 0 and so is colonizable, too. Class 8+ is good, Class 13+ is great.
