Large planet = teh sux?

How come large planets seemingly without fail are shoddy planets special resources-wise ? I've never seen a single planet of 15+ capacity with even semi-decent amount resources. Am I extremely unlucky or is this some kind of Stardock balancing scheme?

Secondly, I'm suprised the bug where the description of the terrain in the small window doesn't match that of the planet map (ie. you get an ocean where the map shows mountains) hasn't been eradicated already. I mean, it's such a glaringly obvious bug!

Another annoying issue is that the build queue estimated completion time often is incorrect. Often this happens when I play around with domestic settings.

Playing with the Paradox version of the game with the latest patch and otherwise enjoying it a fair deal!

I don't think tiles on larger planets have a smaller chance of special properties.

The incorrect completion time for social projects is happening frequently on the planet screen, rather annoying I'd say (yes, I'm a build perfectionist ). The numbers on the colony list seem to be always correct though.

Research completion times aren't always correct either. I had one tech that showed 1 turn to complete and I had to press the turn button twice. No real biggie, but, I do adjust my domestic settings for optimal performance, not to waste anything if I can.

And I love large planets, great for industrial, merchant or research capitals. I get ones like that and can churn out medium ships in 1 turns or make them into research capitals and focus research for oodles of research points, same for marketing capticals and income. Give me three 15+ planets every game and watch me roar.

Those are some sad sad complaints pal. L1k3 OMg0zors!!111 Hug3 Fr3kin BuGZ0rs!!!1111 teh color Contrast is all Wr0ngs how could this game be released??!111111!! I'll never buy another thing from you again. Stardocck SUX!!111

seriously though. planet tile bonuses are generated randomly based on a formula. I've had class 18 and 20 planets with several high level bonus tiles on them. I've had small planets with no bonuses. It's just luck of the draw bud.

As for the slider production deal. just set your slider. then click in empty space and then reselect the planet and your screen should update with the new build time. It's not really a bug technically. It just has to do with the way they designed the interface. It's honestly nothing to cry about and doesn't affect your playing the game. If you want something to cry about try playing Moo3 or maybe try playing FEAR on your computer and see if securom7 will even start the game for you without having to resort to a crack.

Nobody said something like this here. There's no need to belittle anyone.

And, by the way, the completion times for social projects ARE wrong most of the time (on the planet screen) - with or without slider changes and/or clicking anywhere. It's not the military production I was talking about (your suggestion works there).

I've actually noticed this too. I chalked it up to coincidence, but I remain somewhat dubious.

Perhaps it's just due to heightened expectations. When you colonize a level 8 and get some nice bonuses it's a pleasant surprise. When you colonize a 24 and get no bonuses, there's a natural let-down once you realize that you haven't found the planet that's going to let you waltz through the game with a grin on your face.

Large Planets are hard to manage, believe me. Ever managed some class 72 palnets with full use of 71 tiles?

Most of my high PQ planets tend to have at least one resource, and I've had a few with -insane- production ability (a few minerals tiles to the point that the planet could consistantly crank out my biggest and badest ship in a turn, while Focused on -Research-). I don't think they have any lower chance of special tiles based on what I've seen.

I was disappointed one game when I found almost no special bonus tiles anywhere, especially on the big planets. But those big planets are awesome -- they can become tax cows or super-productive worlds even WITHOUT bonuses.

Heh. Thanks for your replies! E-stab, you're right I didn't mean this as a whine. The game is my first 4x after the MOO3 debacle and boy does this game outshine any game in that series by a great deal! Perhaps I should learn to be more appreciative of my large planets, despite the above, especially in my last uncommon planets/uncommon habitable planets game where I bumped into a neighbour system with class 26, 19, 15 and 11 planets (the two latter yielded as per usual much better special resources though)!
