How are music files added?

I tried to just add the file into the "music" folder, that didn't seem to work. So then I looked for an XML file and found "gc2_Multimedia.xml", but I have no idea where to get the MD5/date/sizes it wants. Can someone explain exactly how music files are added?

I've not tried this yet, but I have found two files in the C:\Program Files\Stardock\Total Gaming\GalCiv2 folder path (yeah, I know I'm no techie). One is titled 'music" and the other is "Event Music." I notice the music bits therein are MP3 format. So I'm guessing that placing an MP3 in one of these files and renaming it to replace an existing MP3 should work, but I figure that music will then only play when the replaced MP3 would've. Is this helpful? I'm really hoping that the programming/designing wizards who crafted this sparkling gem of a game will one day add the 'Use Custom Playlist' feature that is detailed in their printed and PDF manuals.

Sorry for the double post, I posted and didn't see it, so I thought there was a server error (seems like there are a lot of them).

I figured as much with replacing MP3s, but that's not really what I want to do, and the issue of the MD5/date/size is still there. I can get the size, but no the MD5 and date (the date doesn't match... ever). So I guess I can try to replace them and see how it goes, but eventually I will want to add some.

Thanks for helping though.

Hi bky1701 im interestedin the same issue if u find something out plz post it. The music playlist editor in the game was 1of my favourite options in the game. Besides being in the manual it is also mentioned in the preferences file in the folder \My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2.

Good Luck
